Thank you to Sue Copenhaver for taking photos of “Maker’s hands” at the Pysanky on the River retreat. This is my work station-and I’m working on a clutch of eensie-teensies.

Finally getting around to posting some photos from the Washington Decorated Egg Show. So many talented egg artists were there-some I have personally wanted to meet for a long time! We saw dear friends and made some new ones! I taught an Introduction to Pysanky that was well received. I was fortunate to have a great group of students! A big shout out to Terry Ackley for coordinating the show! We were tickled to be invited!

Strongsville, Ohio Egg N ART show
Sunday, September 24
Ode to Wedgewood Araucana teacup/teapot
Time: 10 - Noon
Instructor: Theresa Somerset

Cost; $35 payable at registration by August 15
This is a wax resist (Pysanky) technique. Students will be given a prepared Aruacana chicken egg with some pencil guidelines already in place. Students will draw a teapot on the front oval and a teacup on the back side of the egg. There will be a simple border. Students will wax in the outlines of the border and the recessed areas to
resemble the applique found on Jasperware. They will then be able to choose one background color to dip in. The egg will then be unwaxed, using either candleflame method or heat gun depending on what is allowed at the facility. Students should bring RET’s including Reading/magnifying glasses if needed, studio apron for
dyeing, portable work light if desired.
You must first register as guest to the show:

NEW COLOR ADDED TO LINE! Colorama - RAVEN. Alternative black to #75 Black Velvet. Will take longer to develop deep coverage, especially over bright oranges or reds. For stubborn coverage of colors, initial dip for 4-5 minutes. Take out of dye, gently blot, can remove silicon plug. Leave 30 minutes. Put plug back in and dip for another 3-5 minutes. Continue this process until desired shade is reached, or use helper color before black (especially over those stubborn reds!)
