Check out what’s on our shop shelves! Gamvar, a conservation-quality picture varnish developed by Gamblin in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, offers several benefits. It protects finished artworks, saturates and deepens colors, and creates a unified surface sheen. A key feature of Gamvar is its ability to be applied when paint is dry and firm to the touch, usually within a couple of weeks, unlike traditional varnishes that require a 6-12 month wait time for paint to cure. Look for more Gamblin products, made in Portland, OR, on our shelves. While OMS can be purchased at hardware stores, Gamsol, Gamblin’s artist-grade version of OMS, is significantly safer for indoor studio use due to its nearly zero (0.005%) content of harmful aromatic compounds.
