Over 45 years ago I found a few patterns for stuffed chickens for the family kitchen. It took hours and many tears trying to figure out those first few, a lot of recutting, hand finishing but the outcome was fun. There were lots of firsts, first prints, first sewing techniques, first stuffing applications, hand finishing and finally first family gifts.
Life comes along with move after move, across states and back. Forgotten belongings packed away for years including youthful hobbies. Finally moving into a forever home 10 years ago, it would take until just 3 months ago to come across a few interesting old boxes in the attic. Some treasures buried for 45 years.
One of the first dusty boxes had an amazing Thai purple/gold/ecru paper envelope package and inside, retro Thai cotton fabric samples from the โ70โs. 8 different 1/2 yard cuts all richly colored prints, very dense and very vibrant. A month later, while minimizing other items from another box, I came across all my long lost paper patterns including the different kitchen chickens and that crazy Vogue swirl bias panel long skirt. Did you have one?
When reviewing the chicken pattern I noticed it took exactly 1/2 yard of 44โ cotton fabric.
