In 2016 we started a small business - Rustic Milling & Craft llc. We travel the state and do a variety of classes at many community colleges. If you would like us to do a class at your church, gathering or local community college just let us know. We take the show on the road in Nebraska to share our creative enthusiasm with others. We structure our parties and workshops to the age group that we a
re holding the event for. It is our belief that all ages should enjoy creating one of a kind pieces of art and tailor our events to best serve that age group. They are perfect for a child or teen's birthday party, preschool, group activity, girls night paint and sip, family get together, senior activity and more! We believe everyone is an artist-as we get further from childhood many lose that creative spark and our goal is to rekindle that fearless confident feeling of creating that comes from the soul. It all started with barn quilts. Our local barn quilt trail was ramping up and we made a few barn quilts to put on the trail. Then we made more and started to offer fully prepped and ready for color exterior barn quilt blanks. We started of offer barn quilt painting workshops and they were a great success. We bring fully prepped high quality barn quilt blanks and take the math out of the process. We bring everything you will need except the yellow Frogtape, power cord and hair dryer or fan. Our offerings have grown to include various types of pottery, art & painting parties and workshops. In addition to your typical paint on canvas experience we also offer some options that are quite unique. We offer various forms of pottery and related classes. You can use the kick wheel, motorized wheel or hand build. If you do not want to make the pottery you can just glaze some of our handmade pottery too! You can also paint poured in Nebraska ceramics or glaze them for us to fire! One exciting new painting experience is the black light painting party! We bring black lights and everything you will need to make this a memorable one of a kind experience with results you can be proud of. Colors come alive in the black light-see the world in a whole new way and immerse yourself! This unconventional party/workshop is perfect for a child or teen's birthday party, preschool, group activity, girls night paint and sip, family get together, senior activity and more. Acrylic Fluid Art. That is a new term and concept to some. It is the abstract art of using different tricks to get various effects. This type of art is not just for canvases-you can paint practically anything with this type of art. I warn you-it is quite addictive. There are examples in the Acrylic Fluid Art photo album so you can see some examples of this type of art. In our class we teach 16+ techniques. We can even do a two part class where we pour one day and then when the paint is dry we use the "skins" and make epoxied jewelry. Alcohol Art is something else that is new and different. It has a different look and uses different techniques. It is equally addictive. There are examples of this type of art in the Alcohol Art photo album. We do the standard paint along-paint on canvas or another surface. With this type of instruction we all go through the process as a group. We encourage you to make it your own and use our instruction as a guide but not a rule book. Your art is all about you. Our goal is to have everyone that takes our workshop to leave with a sense of satisfaction of having tried something new, enjoying the process while doing it and feeling pleased about the end result. We also want everyone to gain the confidence to do something new creatively and trust in themselves more and believe that they can do it. Art is more than the sum of the pieces. It is more than the paint, canvas, clay or yarn. It is about the feeling you get when you make something yourself and you feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.
