Donna Meacham will shine a light on Art on Southern Pines with her cut battery-operated lanterns. She says, ”I am a retired disabled veteran. I started to crafting after each surgery to combat depression. It works and people seem to enjoy my crafts. It brings me great happiness.”

Lisa Pearson comes to us as Sassy’s Handmade Creations by Lisa. She began crocheting and the knitting machine as a hobby. ”It’s so relaxing. I turned my hobby into a business known as Sassy’s Handmade Creations by Lisa. My husband has Alzheimers and my sales go to help support his care.“

Art on Southern Pines is the place to be this Saturday, April 25, 10:00-2:00. Aurora Haven Lane, just one of many booths, will have a booth there showing their earrings, bracelets, keychains, bookmarks, cups, coasters, and pet items.
Owner Simone Marano says, “I have always had a love for crafting and creating unique items. Over the years my daughter Jenna (almost ten) has shown more interest; so together we decided to venture out and create Aurora Haven Lane, a platform for our creations. We literally do a little of all — custom clothing items, pet items, jewelry, sports items, memorabilia, cups, pens, key chains, ornaments. And occasionally we even bakes treats. So you’ll never know what treasures you may find.”

Theresa West, of Mama T Handmade, loves “being able to change a ball of yarn into something special” during her free time.
She say, “I learned needlework (knit, crochet and cross stitch) at a DYA summer program when I was 15 years old. I made most birthday and Christmas gifts as a young adult. Years later, I picked it up again when my daughter was born and I started making baby clothes. My daughter's wedding brought me back to this art after designing and making the flower girl basket, ring pillow and shoulder coverings for some of the bridal party. Family and friends coaxed me to do something with my talent. That is when Mama T Handmade was born.”

She’ll have a variety of goods, including baby items, christening sets and announcement booties, along with keychains and backpack buddies for sale.

Art on Southern Pines will take place Saturday, April 25, 10:00-2:00 at Christ Church Presbyterian, 4201 Southern Pines Drive in Evans. Come see us.

“We are Cindy and Ricky Learn, proud U.S. Air Force Reserve retirees who have transitioned from years of service to a life shaped by craftsmanship, curiosity, and imagination.
Ricky retired from the Air Force in 2011 after more than three decades of service and continued his civilian career as a software technical seller for a Fortune 500 company. Cindy retired in 2013 and soon embraced her lifelong passion for embroidery, transforming fabric and thread into beautifully detailed works, created one careful stitch at a time. In 2025, Ricky fully retired, finally devoting his time to the woodworking projects he had long envisioned.
Our arts and crafts studio is a celebration of creativity beyond service—a reflection of the belief that retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter, not the end of the journey. Each piece we create is inspired by dedication, a commitment to learning, and the quiet satisfaction of making something by hand. Cindy brings elegance, texture, and intricate detail through embroidery, while Ricky adds warmth and character through handcrafted woodwork.”
