My love runs deep for an oversized penny tile. A Shower in itself requires so many micro decisions that need to be communicated to a wide range of installers. Every decision should be made and procured before a hammer even enters the building. Pro Tip: All materials should be onsite on demo day. If the GC knows that you’re dragging your feet they will put people on another jobs and the waiting gaps begin. The amount of emails and back and forth are nauseating but necessary.
Once I get a final drawing the specification process can begin.
-plumbing brand, finish, system
-steam shower vs standard
-exhaust spec
-drain size
-tile for walls, shower floor, room floor
-tile spacing & orientation
-niche? ledge? bench? Size & material
-grout selection-brand, type, color
-jamb and threshold material
-door hardware and sizing
All that and we haven’t even covered the the actual room🛁
