Today we raise a toast (and maybe a mic 🎤) to Suzanne Jamieson, who’s officially hanging up her accounting hat after over 17 years with the Dykeman team. Since 2008, she's balanced budgets, wrangled receivables, and somehow made spreadsheets look...fun?

Outside the office, Suzanne is a force of nature—whether she’s pocketing 8-balls with tournament-worthy skill or hitting all the high notes at her favorite karaoke spot. 🎱🎶 Fun fact: Suzanne also has a degree in music and a love for performing - she’s been known to belt out a tune with all the passion and precision she brought to the books. She's also a proud mom of two, a grandmother, a weekend pool shark, and a gardener whose green thumb rivals her financial savvy.

Suzanne, you've sung your last "End of Month" report, and now it's time for a new kind of harmony—one full of well-earned relaxation, family time, and lots of karaoke encores. You’ll be missed more than words (or accounting software) can express. How will we ever stay on top of timesheets without you?!?! Congratulations!

Congratulations to Associate Architect Tom Hudson on his 35-year(!!!) anniversary at Dykeman! Tom's contributions to our team and the work we do are far reaching. His industry knowledge makes him an invaluable resource within the office, as well as with clients, and his skillset is tapped on a regular basis. We are privileged to call him a friend and colleague!

Congratulations to senior interior designer Kate Stein on her 5-year anniversary at Dykeman! Kate joined our team a week before the pandemic shutdown, getting to know most of the team and our clients virtually, but that didn't slow her down. She works tirelessly to ensure our clients are well cared for and brings her exceptional talent to every project. We are so lucky to have her on our team!

These women create, innovate, and lead in their roles as architects, interior designers, designers, project managers, and more. Every other week the Dykeman team gathers for an Inform + Inspire meeting where team members take turns sharing a design inspiration, passion, or interest of their choosing. This week architect Shin Goto treated the team to a glimpse of his time owning a restaurant in Seattle. Shin gave a presentation on the history and creation of "dango" - a Japanese confectionary made of rice flour that dates back to the 1600's and is a popular dessert and snack food in Japan. As part of his presentation Shin prepared dango for everyone to enjoy and was met with rave reviews. We love celebrating the diverse interests of our multi-talented team members!

Please join us in congratulating Dykeman Principal Kelli Smith on her retirement after 36 years with the firm. Trained in both interior design and architecture, Kelli's creative and holistic approach to design elevated every project with a sophisticated elegance. Her extensive portfolio includes community spaces such as K-12 schools, libraries, banks, and city halls. Throughout her career, Kelli prioritized client relationships, community building, and mentorship. The first female partner in Dykeman's 57-year history, Kelli's dedication and leadership helped position the firm as a design leader in the region. She served as a role model and advocate for women both within the firm as well as the broader industry. Passionate about books and the importance of libraries in our community, Kelli also served on the Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees for 11 years, including as Board President. We are grateful for Kelli's contributions both professionally and personally, and for the wonderful relationships we have all been privileged to share with her. Earlier this month the Dykeman team gathered to celebrate Kelli and her remarkable career. She has had a lasting impact on our firm and will be dearly missed! Bon voyage, Kelli!

Earlier this week the Everett AquaSox hosted a meeting for community members to learn more about plans for a new multipurpose facility here in town. Attendees heard from Danny Tetzlaff (AquaSox GM), Chad Volpe (AquaSox Owner), Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin, Justin Papadakis (USL Deputy CEO), and others about hopes and dreams for a new facility and how it could benefit the Everett community. As longtime community members and AquaSox fans, we were happy to support our hometown ball club!

The Dykeman team gathered earlier this week to welcome fall with an Oktoberfest celebration. It was a treat to host Das Bratmobile's food truck, complete with authentic German delicacies, and our team and their family members enjoyed pumpkin painting and games on a beautiful afternoon. We also enjoyed getting to know some of our neighbors at Evergreen Erectors.
