Behind the scenes at Ridgefield Estate.

One of our favorite spaces in the home isn’t the kitchen, living room, or primary suite. It’s the mudroom.

Before the renovation, there wasn’t a true landing area between the garage and kitchen. We saw an opportunity to create a hardworking transition space that could absorb the realities of daily life while feeling rooted in the architecture of the home.

Drawing inspiration from classical English and New England mudrooms, we introduced this paneled wall to create separation from the kitchen and establish a dedicated zone for coats, boots, bags, and the inevitable daily clutter. A floor to ceiling window floods the space with natural light, while hidden laundry keeps the room quietly functional behind the scenes.

Beautiful homes need workhorses, too.

While Carta Creatives specializes in interior design, our work rarely stops at the front door. With a team of professionally trained designers and architects, our team approaches every project with an eye toward the complete experience of a home, considering how architecture, interiors, landscape, and outdoor living work together as a whole.

From collaborating with trusted landscape partners on planting direction and hardscape details to selecting exterior paint colors, outdoor furnishings, lighting, and styling, we love helping shape the spaces where life happens both inside and out.

The Great Room⭐️
Designed to feel equal parts relaxed and refined, this Ridgefield Estate living room was all about creating a space that invites people to settle in and stay awhile. The palette leans soft and tonal, layered with warm browns, aged black accents, natural textures, and just enough contrast to keep the room feeling grounded.
With two sofas facing one another, the layout naturally encourages conversation, whether it’s morning coffee, a slow afternoon, or a house full of guests for the weekend. Built-ins styled with collected pieces, woven textures underfoot, and oversized windows flooding the room with natural light all help give the space it’s easy, lived-in feel.

Sometimes, a single material becomes the starting point for an entire room!

For this powder room, it was the remnant slab. The moment we found this heavily veined stone, we knew it needed to lead the design direction so instead of treating it like an accent, we let it shape the space entirely.

From the warm brass fixtures to the softer wall tones and organic textures, every layer was chosen to complement the richness and movement of the marble without competing with it.

A good reminder that some of the best spaces start with one really good find!

The best projects are never one-sided.

They are conversations. Shared references. Evolving ideas. Trust. Collaboration. A client with a vision and a team there to help shape it into something deeply personal.

For this home, every layer was considered from the kitchen gut renovation to lighting, fabrics, furniture, wallpaper, and the final placement of art throughout the space. The goal was never just to make the house beautiful, but to make it feel completely reflective of the people living in it.

As our client shared, “It was truly a fun process, one of maximum collaboration.”

That balance of guidance and openness is something we value deeply at Carta. Helping clients create homes that not only look beautiful, but feel entirely their own.

Really excited to see one of our Ridgefield project bedrooms featured in as part of their latest story on bedroom color ideas!

This room was all about creating a softer, more relaxed feeling through color, texture, and warmth — anchored by the blue-green paint that completely changed the mood of the space.

At the heart of every project is a whole lot of material play!

Scheming is rarely a straight line. It’s plugging things in, pulling things out, shifting tones, textures, and finishes around until everything starts speaking the same language. Sometimes you get lucky and nail it on the first try… but usually, the magic happens somewhere in the trial and error.

Current material play for a Fairfield bathroom project.

And honestly, this part never gets old.
