Wednesday. In situ day.

Gilded Silence, where it belongs.

Seventeen inches of matte black, with one corridor of warm ivory and a single stripe of gold running its full height. It is narrow in depth — four inches — so it reads as a plane rather than a volume. That is why it wants a shallow surface and a dark wall behind it, not a broad table.

Give it low light from one side and the gold does the rest.

Gold burns through velvet darkness.

This piece commands attention through its bold, graphic composition—a study in dramatic restraint. Vertical bands of matte black flank a luminous central corridor where warm ivory frames a single stripe of molten gold. The interplay between shadow and light creates a visual tension that draws the eye inward, as if glimpsing a precious seam of sunlight through a partially opened door. Metal meets motion.

Bold Fold is a striking work in the JeanElton TallVase (TV) Collection, where dramatic movement and radiant sheen converge. Its sharply folded contours evoke a sense of deliberate tension, like the pressed crease of a sculptural fabric caught mid-sway. Coated in a luminous metallic gloss—both inside and out—the piece plays with light and shadow as it shifts throughout the day, emphasizing its angularity and depth.

A single round portal punctuates the surface, adding a moment of openness amid the structure's bold geometry. This subtle void invites curiosity, as though offering a glimpse through to something just beyond perception.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

Each was developed in our studio, tested and named. Color is a separate question from treatment: Bold Fold's color family is Gold & Metallic, and so is Gilded Silence, which looks nothing like it. Every JeanElton piece belongs to a Collection — a family of form. SailVase. TallVase. OvalVase. DiskVessel. Each one is a different problem JeanElton has spent years solving.

Prism Matrix is a SailVase. The wall rises and curves the way a sail does when it takes wind.

Two other things describe it, and they are the ones a designer actually needs.

Scale — Compact, Featured, or Statement. Always judged within its own Collection: a Featured SailVase is measured against other SailVases, not against a TallVase. This one is Featured.

And proportional form. Prism Matrix is 19 inches tall, 17 across, and 4 deep. Tall and narrow — narrow in depth. It reads as a plane rather than a volume.

Some works ask a room to make space for them. Prism Matrix simply arrives, and the room rearranges itself.

Wednesdays are when we show JeanElton pieces where they live — in the settings that suit them.

Vermillion beside cobalt, chartreuse against ochre, each band stitched with its own small rhythm: zigzag, dot, chevron. Within, a matte black hollow, silent as the interior of a shell. A SailVase, where the rim lifts and leans as though caught mid-crossing.
