Hand knotted vs. hand loomed—what’s the difference?

Hand knotted rugs are crafted knot by knot, taking months to complete. The result? Incredible detail, durability, and a true heirloom piece that only gets better with time.

Hand loomed rugs are made on a loom without individual knots, giving them a smoother, more uniform texture. They’re typically faster to produce and offer a more modern, minimal look.

Both are beautiful—but the difference is in the craftsmanship, longevity, and design.

Grounded, Textural, Hand Loomed.

Created on a loom by skilled artisans who manually weave each thread into place. The process involves stretching yarns (the warp) on a loom, then interlacing fibers (the weft) by hand to build the rug’s structure, one row at a time. While it’s faster than hand-knotting, it still requires experience to operate the loom and finish each piece by hand.

The result? A rug with a slightly varied finish that is beautifully organic and grounding.
