If you've followed me for any length of time, you know I'm always reminding you to look up. Look up at the architecture. Look up at the ceilings. Look up at the details most people walk right past.

Portugal reminded me to do the exact opposite.

I couldn't stop looking down.

Everywhere I walked, the sidewalks themselves were works of art. Hand-laid stone mosaics flowed through city streets, wrapped around historic buildings, and turned an ordinary walk into an appreciation for craftsmanship.

What fascinated me even more was watching artisans carefully replace the stones one by one. No shortcuts. Just patience, skill, and an incredible respect for the work that came before them.

It was such a beautiful reminder that timeless design is never rushed. It's built with intention, shaped by skilled hands, and meant to last.

I think I'll keep telling you to look up...but every now and then, don't forget to look down, too. You never know where you'll find inspiration.”

Fresh flowers. A botanical print. An open window. 🌿

Sounds simple, right? But there’s actual science behind why these things make your home feel better, and it all comes back to biophilia, one of my favorite design principles.

I dove deep into this (and so much more) in this month’s newsletter. Link in bio to read the full thing or subscribe so you never miss one.

Which of these three are you trying first? 👆

A kitchen with good energy starts with balance—moody tiles mixed with the warmth of white oak. Light, functionality, and central space to gather. This one checks all the boxes. ✨

Is it too early for a cocktail? Asking for a friend (the one in the painting, of course 😉). I’m personally easing into the year with a Damp January... because let’s be real, a dry one isn’t realistic!

Hi! I’m Tori McBrien, and I wanted to properly re-introduce myself! You’ve likely seen some of what I do on here, but I’ve decided it’s time to show up more consistently and share the entire design journey (and maybe some of my behind the scenes) with you.

From the first concept sketches to the final installation, the baseball diamond to the kitchen —I want to share the reality of being an entrepreneur, mom and wife.

Let me know what you’d like to see. Type the # below!👇🏻
1️⃣In-progress shots & site visits

So honored to receive the Member of the Year award from the HBRA of Fairfield County at our holiday party. Grateful for an organization that has supported me, challenged me, and helped me grow both professionally and personally. I think I said this in my speech (hard to tell… I fully had an Old School–Will Ferrell blackout moment), but so many HBRA members have become not just colleagues, but true friends I look forward to seeing every month—if not more. Cheers to shared success and an incredible 2026 ahead!
