Tomorrow’s the big day, the Kansas City Hook-in, Shawnee Civic Centre, 9:30-3:00 pm. Walk-ins welcome, $20. Special rug exhibit honoring Marilyn Schmidt, great vendors, hope you can join us!!

Also, a new memorial scholarship has been established by the rug hooking friends of Marilyn Schmidt, who created & organized the original Rock Creek Rugs Hook-In for 24 years. She was instrumental in sharing & teaching rug hooking to so many of us in the KC area and this is a small way to honor her legacy. Funds will be used for a beginner class to be held annually at the KC Hook-In and a special drawing for admission & lunch for next year's KC Hook-In.

I just learned Marilyn Schmidt, my friend and mentor, passed away this morning. I was able to visit her on Saturday…So hard to say goodbye to her. I’ll update as soon as I have details on services. She was one of a kind and continually supported me in my journey. She passed the reins of the Kansas City Hook-in to me in 2021 after 24 years of running the event…her legacy will be forever honored and I’ll think of her with every pulled loop. ❤️

What a great day at the Kansas City Hook-in! Thank you to the all the vendors, volunteers, attendees and special guests Sharon Townsend and Queen of the KC rug hookers, Marilyn Schmidt who started this event 29 years ago!

Jeanne J., a member State Line Rug Hookers Guild - ATHA was the winner of this year’s philanthropy rug…and it was her birthday! Congratulations Jeanne!!

Thanks also to Kim Harbur, Co-Founder and Director of Education for Gift of Life KC , for pulling the ticket. So pleased she could attend and share about this wonderful nonprofit organization.
