Gas prices are rising, so what does that mean for you? And what does that mean for us going forward?
This is hardly new news, we have felt the pain of buying a tank of gas the past month, and prices are expected to rise for an unknown period of time. In reaction to these new soaring prices at the pump and in our supply chain, we will be making a few changes on how we do business.
We WON’T
-Increase website prices.
-We are working on small changes within our business to cut costs where we can so our customers don’t pay the price.
-Increase delivery prices in Peyton, Falcon, Elbert, Black Forest or Colorado Springs.
-We feel our current delivery prices are fair in these areas and should not be at the mercy of current oil prices.
-Decrease the quality of our blooms.
-We pride ourselves on high quality, lasting blooms. Any changes we make will not affect our high standards of goods and services.
We WILL
-Order from our wholesalers less frequently.
-We will be making fewer trips to our wholesaler and order slightly larger quantities to compensate for less frequent visits. This is to save on gas and wholesale delivery fees. This will not decrease the quality or life expectancy of our flowers.
-Change our website offerings.
-We will be removing some of our website offerings and some of the more unique flower variety options. This is so we can focus more on specific flower varieties and avoid last minute trips to our wholesaler for specialty blooms.
-Make floral substitutions.
-Less frequent trips to our wholesalers might mean selling out of specific flowers before our next expected pickup or shipment. If we need to make a substitution, we will give you a call and offer suitable substitute suggestions. We will never substitute a major flower without our customers acknowledgment and permission.
-Create more fuel efficient delivery routes.
-We will shift our delivery routes to be as fuel efficient as possible and to take as few delivery trips as we can. This means we will not be able to take timed delivery requests and our first delivery trip won’t be until noon. We will make sure schools and businesses get priority, outside of those we cannot guarantee specific delivery times.
-Increase delivery to Calhan $2.50.
-This has been a decision we have been debating on for years. We recognize we are the only florist that delivers to Calhan and we don’t want to take advantage of our customers by price gouging on delivery. Calhan is outside of our traditional delivery range and we feel with the extra mileage, and wear and tear on our delivery vehicles, a small delivery increase is warranted. We thank our new and loyal Calhan customers for their understanding.
We understand money is tight right now and we want to take care of our community that has taken care of us. If you have any questions about our new operations please do not hesitate to ask.
