I really liked the way he explained this — our brains can be a little like an algorithm. What we continually feed and focus on is what we start noticing more of.

It’s easy to get into the habit of looking for what’s wrong, what’s irritating us, or what somebody else is doing wrong. And after a while, that can become where our attention naturally goes.

His exercise is so simple: set a timer for one minute and intentionally think about what is good and right in your life.

Not ignoring the hard things or pretending everything is perfect — just practicing giving some attention to what’s going right, too.

I think we could all use a little more of that.
