Stop in the see our FIRSTfriday of Falls Church artist Margaret Jacobson work on display thru the end of the month.
Margaret Jacobson knew she had a strong artistic talent from an early age. However, it wasn’t until age 24, did she start to paint. As a member of the Army Reserve she deployed to Afghanistan, and upon her return she enrolled in an oil painting class. She enrolled in this class as an outlet to curtail the anxiety of feeling lost and unsure of the future. This was when she discovered she had a real talent in painting. As Margaret made her way in the world working full time, as a member of the army reserve, and earning her master’s degree. Art was put on hold, however her passion to paint never subsided. Margaret has now come to the point that life has given her enough substance to absorb and create. Incorporating her background and life experiences into her work, Margaret conveys that art is much deeper than “something pretty to look at.” It’s an experience… it’s a feeling…it’s a story. The messages she tells through her art includes stories of diversity, unity, love, and peace. Everyone and everything in life is uniquely different and we as a human race must give space and respect for these differences. Once we fully and unconditionally accept the differences in ourselves, we can begin to accept the differences in others.
