To kick off Trade Secrets weekend, we invite you to come enjoy the wonder of Amanda Jones’ artwork next Friday, May 15 from 4-6pm. Amanda’s work is rooted in nature. She’s an avid gardener — right here in Salisbury — and is fascinated by anything and everything that creeps, crawls, slithers, or is simply just there to be observed. Her work is made out of confectioner’s wire from Japan and a broad range of paper, cut to shape and molded by scoring and burnishing to create the individual forms that make up a single element. It is detailed work – a single insect consists of more than twenty individual elements. The result is magical, pure whimsy, a true delight to behold. Don’t miss this very special exhibit at 100 Main. There will be sparkling wine and water, and some light hors d’oeuvres. We hope to see you there! If you can’t make it to the reception, do stop by Saturday or Sunday, as the work will be on view (and for sale) all weekend.

We just got a sweet taste of spring here in Falls Village and we can’t stop thinking about our garden plans and all of the plants we’ll be potting up… Has anyone else already ordered all of their seeds? Bunny is here in our third edition of “Bunny’s Eye” to talk to us about two of her favorite local ceramic and terracotta pots and their local ceramicist creators. Dan Bellow’s terracotta pots have a delightfully unique shape and texture to them. And Ben Wolff’s ceramic pots in grey and white, also a favorite and staple of Martha Stewart, often incorporate a pie crust or sweet roping detail that we can’t get enough of. As Bunny says, both get more gorgeous with age… Stunning indoors or out, and perfect too for forced bulbs during winter. All are available online and in the shop when we open back up for spring. Local pick up can also be arranged.

Charcuterie anyone? From cozy winter hosting to al fresco dining, these pieces will adorn your tables indoor or out for a lifetime. We sat down with Bunny to hear about some of her favorite local woodworkers and their designs in the shop… including a piece of Sharon, CT history!

That large wooden bowl was made from the first twin oak to fall in the hollow; there was a beehive inside with some propolis still visible. And that custom trestle table is by Jim Herrity and comes in 16 stains (or plain old weathered grey) — more on that from Bunny soon!
