Oak Street Wood & Steel

Oak Street Wood & Steel Family run hobby venture that specializes in creative woodworking art, and artisan blacksmithing. We are a family owned and operated crafting business!

Photos of projects are uploaded as they are completed, and we enjoy custom orders. If you see something you like, or have an idea for something that you would like to have made, feel free to send us a message. We will gladly see what we can do to bring your unique idea to life!

We did a design update on an old favorite this evening. Takes a little bit longer, but the twists really make it pop.

A year ago, we moved. It wasn't in our plans, but better doors opened that couldn't be ignored.

For the last year we have been learning the new rhythm and adjusting to it. I haven't done much forging until the last couple of weeks, and am ready to get that part of our life back underway.

Last fall we had the opportunity to add another piece of history to our shop, knowing it would be a while before it went into use. This power hammer is from the early 1900s, and was purchased at the auction of another blacksmith after his passing. It's mostly original, but has an electric motor and mount added to make it usable for modern shops.

This evening I got the wiring roughed in, and leveled (with a little help) the base enough that it could be tried out. There's still more work to be done before it can be fully put to use, but testing this out is a milestone we wanted to share as a glimpse of things to come. Slow but sure, we are picking up where we left off, and look forward to what's to come.
