I finally delivered this dining table...

6 months ago! Life has been busy and never got around to it. This piece went with the desk I also built (and posted) last year.

The solid hard maple top is 44 wide and just under 8 feet long. I designed the legs but contracted the welding and powder coating to a local shop.

I know the pictures aren't the best, but the room setup didn't provide the best angles.

Finally finished the first of 2 pieces for a client. While a simple design, the size and finishing really kicked my a$$. The desk top is 80" long by 30" deep.

Legs are welded and powder coated steel, top and shelf are hard maple stained with gel stain and top coated with high performance satin.

I'm very happy with the final product!

Now to finish up the topcoat on the dining table top and that piece will be done too.

Delivered my latest project this morning. I was commissioned to make this island extension as part of a kitchen remodel. This was a fun little piece to make. As usual it took a little longer than I thought, but in the end everyone was very happy with the final product. Thank you for giving me the chance to make this.

The 3 inch thick top is made from solid cherry and finished with halcyon. The base is made from poplar and painted with Emerald.

Switching over to for a bit.

I call this my inception spray can rack. I bought the 1/8" plywood from Chris, and the digital file, but then did the laser cutting myself.

I did reach out to Chris about the material the file was designed for. He quickly replied letting me know if was designed for 1/4" plywood, which I believe is the thickness of the ones he sells already cut.

Using I adjusted all the slot widths and I was off and running. Unfortunately I didn't think about the vertical spacers being too short since I was using thinner material (see last picture). One more adjustment in Lightburn, a few more cuts, a couple clicks, and I have a functional holder.

They say one every new project you should try one new technique.  Well on this one I tried at least 12! This is probably part of the reason it took me about 4 months to finish. That and the fact that I usually didn’t get started working each day until around 9pm after working my job that actually makes me money and then my husband/father job when I got home.

This is only the second piece of furniture I have ever made (third if a fireplace mantle counts) and by far the largest thing I have made. The base frame is all poplar with plywood panels. Everything is doweled together using my and jigs.  I used paint and primer along with my paint sprayer. The top is solid red oak, stained, then finished with brushing lacquer.

Here are some of the new things I tried on this project:
- inset doors
- euro hinges
- undermount drawer slides
- brushing lacquer (wouldn’t recommend)
- glass panel doors
- shelf pins
- using a 1.5” roundover router bit
- Oh, and building a freakin' 8 foot long piece of furniture!

Thanks to for making my doors and drawer fronts since I was taking so long to get anything done!

I learned a lot from this, including what I am capable of (even if it takes me way too long) in my garage shop. There were multiple times I wanted to quit and just refund the customers deposit, but after seeing her reaction I’m glad I kept pushing and got it done.

And for delivery I figured I would give a plug to Jamey with with my shirt choice.
