I love it that so many people, including me, are working hard to get healthy and shed unwanted pounds. It feels great to be able to slip back into something that you haven’t worn in years. It’s equally rewarding to be able to size existing clothes down to save money on new wardrobe pieces. HOWEVER, sometimes excessive weight loss dictates the need to purchase new clothes, no matter how much we want to hold on to items we love. In theory, clothes are NOT designed to be sized down more than TWO sizes. Doing so changes the original design and shape and they will NEVER fit correctly. WTBS, as a professional seamstress, I cannot accept jobs requiring me to size items down more than two sizes. In many cases (with few exceptions) I also can’t accept requests to ADD fabric to existing items. I am always willing to consult with customers first before rejecting requests; however, I will be honest in my assessment of whether an item can or cannot be successfully altered. I hope existing and potential customers understand my position. Let me know if you have questions.
