How we came to be...

I grew up in Minnesota. Scandinavian culture runs deep through Minnesota’s roots. It’s hard for me to describe what that means, but somehow it explains everything you need to know about me. It is said that the pioneers chose Minnesota and Wisconsin to live because the landscape and climate closely resembled their homelands of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. Part of the lore of being Scandinavian (and European, really), is the tradition of gnomes. Around the world they have different names and different jobs. But I love them all.

Minnesota is where I still spend summers. While on a girls shopping trip in the wonderful town of Stillwater, MN, I found Sven. He was a gray and white gnome that I had to have. I loved him, when I saw him, I smiled. When I held him, I actually felt comforted. When I was deciding on Christmas and birthday presents that year, I decided to create more Sven’s to share with my loved ones.

One thing led to another, and I decided to create enough to share with everyone. The person instrumental in making that decision was my dear friend, Nanette. Together we created Gnotable Gnomes Shoppe. We now have my mother, Beth and daughter, Cate to make this a family business. We are just excited to share these gnomes with everyone.
