By the bright fire of Beltane,
By the Hawthorn blooming bold,
I stand between the winter past
And summer’s heart of gold.

I release what binds and burdens,
Habits, fears that dim my flame —
Into the Bel-fire I cast them,
Ash to ash, none stay the same.

What served me once, I thank and free,
Your lessons are kept, your weight now free.
Make space for joy to root within me,
For love and growth to rise with dawn.

May my spirit, like the land, renew,
Green and wild, strong and true.
May passion light my path ahead,
May peace and purpose where I tread.

The wheel has turned, the old is done.
I welcome summer, and the sun.

Pamela Colman Smith ✨ (16 February 1878 – 16 September 1951), nicknamed "Pixie", was a British artist, illustrator, writer, publisher, and occultist. She is best-known for illustrating the Rider–Waite Tarot (also known as the Rider–Waite–Smith or Waite–Smith Tarot) for Arthur Edward Waite. This tarot deck became the standard among tarot card readers, and remains the most widely used today. Smith also illustrated over 20 books, wrote two collections of Jamaican folklore, edited two magazines, and ran the Green Sheaf Press, a small press focused on women writers.
