This might look like nothing, but is, in fact, something very exciting -the start of a sunflower head! 🌻 I’m trying something new this year, which are some Pro-Cuts. They are single cut, pollenfree sunflowers with exceptional vase life. The challenge is that they only produce one usable flower per plant, so you have to be on top of pulling out the plant when it’s done and succession planting new ones. Can’t wait to see these rare beauties!

Sweet pea seedlings are planted out and ready to feast on the homemade compost we just laid out. We have two big compost bins that we fill with our food scraps spring-fall to get ready for the next gardening season. Even the kids get involved with learning how to sort what food scraps are compostable and collecting or shredding brown matter. The circle of life continues!
