Eyeing this right now 🤤 we’ll need to get the northern upgrade package which increases the arch diameter to support heavier snow loads. About ready to pull the trigger!

I’ve been posting less often but we’re still chugging away each week. Trying to close up beds, finish the over wintering seeding, get ready for a baby wide 👀, plan for next year, order a high tunnel, dig and move peonies, harvest, arrange, sell, post, … 😵‍💫 … I’ve given up on weeding at this point lol

3:20pm Update: Heather went out to cut some more stems and put out a few bouquets. A couple people drove by before they were out, so send us a message if that was you and we’ll hold one for you 👍🏼

We just got back from camping and see we are sold out at the stand.

Thank you all so much for stopping by this weekend and apologies if we missed you! More flowers and updates to come soon!

We made a quick trip home from Seven Maples campground so we could play with the flowers for a bit. It’s hard to stay away when the plants are just bursting, but this our last trip of summer. I know school has started for most people, but we got one last weekend. I’m excited for the coming school year and the rhythm that it brings our family.

We woke up with a very cool morning in the camper that felt amazing. Sweat pants and hoodies for the boys first thing 😃

It’s our last week of the August CSA. We want to thank you so much for supporting us this season. We will get you set up with a treat soon!

It’s back-to-school week 🤯 We love you and miss you, summer break.

Check out these grab and go jars we put together for opening week. If you are looking for something to help bring some ease for your kiddos teacher then give these a look. There’s a little tag in case you want to write a short note and pop it on your teachers desk. Share some flowers with someone 💕

We will have these available this week. Check our page for an update once we have them out together (possibly Tuesday but definitely for Wednesday)

The growing season is freight train that we guide as best we can while we look ahead to the future.

Things are feeling like a transition at the moment. The boy’s summer camps are ending, the school year is just around the corner, tulips for next spring are ordered, and crop planning are under way. Summer trips are behind us (one final camping trip next weekend). And ummmm, our baby is coming real soon 👀

The New England light is shifting with a different hue than we bask in during the summer months. The grass is slowing. I feel the cool nights with a sigh of relief. Goldenrod inflorescence everywhere. And I’m a bit tired and sore 😴 All of this is good.

Looking forward to share more with you as our farm continues to evolve. We have some purchases in the works that I can’t wait to reveal. As always, thank you for following our page and supporting us.

Scabiosa is a bit of a controversial flower for us.

The good:
It’s quite a workhorse on our farm since it continues to push out blooms all summer long. They have a great vase life and are available in many shades and colors. Insects are always buzzing around the patch for fresh pollen, again all summer long. They have a pretty forgiving harvest window, meaning we have plenty of time to cut them for bouquets or let them sit in the field until we need them. Not the case all flowers (I’m looking at tulip, peonies and sunflowers which need to be picked within hours for an ideal harvest). Not to mention even after their peak harvest window has passed, we can still harvest the premature seed heads and use those in bouquets to add lots of texture and interest. This stage is why it is also known as Pincushion Flower. Did I mention how many usable flowers they produce? I’ve seen some people record 40 stems from one plant 🤯

The maybe not as good:
What’s not to love? They’re constantly tangling into themselves and the other plants around them. I go to pick one stem and it’s 40 neighbors hold on for dear life when we’re trying to pick just one bud. Maybe it’s just me, but they are slow to harvest. And once we get them into a harvest bucket the whole event repeats itself when we (I.e. Heather) start arranging bouquets. Try to grab a stem and seven more come out with it. Oi vey!

The more you know 💫
