Our retail store and service department will be closed Friday, September 4th through Monday, September 7th.

We hope you visit us next week as we all start preparing our water features for colder weather. If you haven't already, start clocking the temparature of your water because once its consistently under 65 degrees there are some changes we need to make for how we care for the feature :)

🌸 The wait is over... our Annual Plant Sale is here!

All annual plants are 25% OFF while supplies last!

Late summer is when ponds need shade the most. Adding mature annuals around your pond helps block direct sunlight, keeps the water cooler, and can help reduce the conditions that encourage algae growth.

The best part? Our annuals are HUGE right now, so you'll get instant color and instant shade.

💙 We're thinking of everyone dealing with the smoky skies and wildfires this week.

The air quality has been rough, and while taking care of yourself and your family comes first, it's a good time to keep an eye on your pond, too.

Extended periods of smoky conditions can put extra stress on your pond's ecosystem, especially if you have fish.

✔️ Wildfire Smoke Pond Checklist
🧪 Test your water. This is the best way to know how your pond is handling the changing conditions. Pay close attention to pH, ammonia, and nitrite if the smoke sticks around for several days. Need help? Ask us about our water testing service ;) We'll walk through the results together and help you decide if your pond needs any adjustments.

💨 Keep waterfalls, fountains, and aeration running 24/7 to help maintain oxygen levels.

🦠 Support your pond's biological filtration. A healthy population of beneficial bacteria helps keep your pond balanced during periods of environmental stress.

💦 If your water quality starts to slip or your fish seem stressed, a 10–20% water change can help restore balance.

🐟 If you have fish, watch for signs like gasping at the surface, hanging around the waterfall, loss of appetite, or acting more sluggish than usual.

Every pond is different, so if something doesn't seem quite right, stop by Backyard Oasis. Bring a water sample, your water test results, or even just a picture of your pond. We're always happy to help you find the best solution for your unique water feature.

Stay safe, everyone. We're hoping for cleaner air and blue skies again soon. 💙

⚠️ HOT WEATHER POND WARNING ⚠️

You can lose fish during this heat, so we wanted to share a quick reminder.

When temperatures climb, oxygen levels in your pond drop, which can put extra stress on your fish.

Here's what we recommend:
💧 Pause algaecide treatments during extreme heat. Treating algae right now can reduce oxygen even further.
🌊 Keep your waterfalls, fountains, and aeration running 24/7.
🌡️ If your pond reaches 85°F or higher, do a 10-15% water change using dechlorinated water to help cool it gradually.
🥣 Feed a little less while temperatures are high.
🐟 If your fish are hanging around the waterfall, gasping at the surface, or acting sluggish, don't ignore it.

Not sure what your pond needs? Bring us a picture or stop by the store. We'd much rather help you prevent a problem than solve one after it's happened.

Stay cool out there!
