So there's been a bit of radio silence around here lately, but only because I've been playing catch up for the past few weeks. 🫣 The summer season often plays out that way!
But I recently squeezed in a little time to lighten things up in our bedroom using a few favorites from the shop. One of my favorite ways to freshen things up at home is textiles--pillows, throws, bedding, curtain panels, etc. My little 1940s Cape Cod-style home has limited storage space (IYKYK), but I find textiles to be compact and easy to store. Plus, they create a massive visual transformation with very little time or effort. (More on that later!)
And because I am forever and always a mixer, I love bringing in different prints and patterns to keep things interesting. It all comes together to form an interesting, comfy, cozy look in our tiny bedroom. Using my fave Indaba block print duvet set as a starting point, I added in a coordinating throw in a graphic stripe and kept my velvet lumbar pillow to pull the warm tones (all from the shop). Then I tempered the color palette using a white quilt with gold stitching (purchased years ago, which happily ties into the bird print on the duvet), and because we couldn't let that icy blue be lonely, I added in a blue cotton blanket.
Lots of varied layers, textures, colors, and patterns...just the way I like it! And while quite so many elements may not be everyone's cup of tea, for me, making a beautiful bed in the morning is a few minutes of zen to start my day that I get to enjoy again at the end. 🤗
