Zipper repair done and road ready! I am not a cobbler and do not profess to be.

This repair job was a prime example of someone not caring about their work and or completing it correctly. This zipper had been previously repaired/replaced. The old one had been ripped out and a new one installed. Now, was the job completed? Yes. Completed correctly? No. Why? When you work with certain materials you learn how those materials react to certain conditions and applications. Leather is no different; and if you have worked with it longer than a day you know you need to have clean stitching holes. If you don’t have clean stitching holes your stitching will not lay flat and be as strong. It will frey easily and even catch on things. It doesn’t look good and in this case caused a failure and the customer more time and money.

I know most people will say that I should appreciate the job security….I do! I just don’t like that, because a craftsman that professes they can do the job they are willing to cut corners. Would you want me cutting corners on your project? I won’t; I won’t because I care about my quality of craftsmanship leaving my shop. I won’t, I won’t because it is my name behind said product. I won’t, I won’t because it cost my customers more time and money. I don’t say all of this to pat myself on the back; I do it so people may look at their work product and realize they are also the customers paying for these services!
