You might be wondering what "Cold Coffee Kisses" means and why its the name of my blog... well the answer is actually very simple... My name is Amanda, and I'm a full-time working mom of FOUR, yes you read that right, FOUR, high energy kids. Unfortunately juggling work, the house, and all the kids means my coffee is constantly cold...
As for the "Kisses".. well, they are as good as currency in
my house. Kisses are how we start our mornings, resolve conflicts, say thank you, mend boo-boos, and send each other off to sweet dreams at night. My children are being raised on this momma's cold coffee kisses and I wouldn't change a thing! This blog started out as an idea I had to share a bit of our experience as a family. Our time together is limited during the week because our schedules are so hectic. One of my favorite ways to spend time together is doing something creative! My kiddos love arts and crafts and get a tremendous feel good boost when they make something with their own little hands. They are always so proud of everything they make. As adults I think we forget how fun and even therapeutic arts and crafts can be. When you have a busy lifestyle and need to make the most of every minute, sometimes a quick craft or project is the answer. There have been many days and nights when the bickering and whining have no end and I silently wonder who brought these mini tornadoes to my house and when they are coming back to pick up the mess??? One thing I have learned is that I can redirect and tell my kids to settle down and stop fighting until I'm blue in the face but it rarely works... what DOES work every time are these magic words.... "who wants to do a craft !?!"
My hope is that this can be a place for you to find some inspiration and motivation to get creative with your little ones even if you think you don't have the time. Creative expression is so important for developing minds and many kids get an incredible sense of pride and accomplishment when they create something all by themselves (and occasionally with help from a grown up!). Even a quick 5-10 minute craft can be a game changer to reset the balance in your day. It doesn't have to be complicated or expensive, just some quality time with the little ones in your life using many things you probably already have in your home.
