Coats For Kids is back, and we’re ready to fill the racks!

For the next four weeks, Silica For Your Home will be a drop off location for Coats For Kids.

Our community has shown up in a big way for this campaign in the past, and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish together again this year. Have a new or gently used coat to donate? Bring it to Silica and help keep a local kid warm this winter.

This is one of those stories that reminds you there is still a lot of good in the world.

Last week, we had a couple in the store shopping when, as they were walking in, they held the door for an older man entering at the same time. He was moving a little slower and, through their brief conversation, they learned that he was a veteran.

The couple came into the store for their own needs, but after that brief interaction at the door, the man approached one of our salesmen and said, “I want to buy that veteran a dryer.”

They had never met before and had only spoken for a few moments, yet he decided he wanted to do something kind for someone he had just met. He put money down with our salesman to cover the cost of the veteran’s dryer and went about his day.

No fanfare. No expectation of anything in return. Just a quick, incredibly kind act from one person to another.

There is still so much good out there. We were grateful to witness a little bit of it right here at Silica.
