Sometimes we forget that when we talk about how special our downtown is, we’re not just talking about the beautiful buildings. We’re talking about the people and the small businesses that bring those buildings to life.
Behind every little storefront is someone who took a chance. Someone who believed in their town enough to invest their time, their money, their creativity, and their heart into it.
And that risk doesn’t end when the doors open.
It continues every month when the rent is due, when the bills arrive, when inventory has to be purchased, when payroll is due—and sometimes when the customers simply aren’t coming through the door like they need to.
Harrill & Harrill is one of those businesses.
We didn’t open our doors because we knew it would be easy. We opened them because we believed in downtown Forest City. We believed there was room for something beautiful, something different, something that could become part of the story of our town.
And every time someone walks through our door, makes a purchase, tells a friend about us, shares a post, or simply stops in to say hello, it means more than they probably realize.
Because you’re not just supporting a business.
You’re telling a small business owner, “You were right to believe in this town.”
So yes… shop small. Support local. Choose the downtown businesses when you can.
But maybe think about it a little differently, too.
Every time you choose a small local business, you’re helping someone’s dream stay alive.
