This summer, I was able to join the ongoing St. Joseph County Kettle Lakes Corridor research project with Notre Dame's Dr. Dominic Chaloner. Not only did I get to explore wetlands and forests and see how wonderful this place is, but I was given the opportunity to begin my own part of the project, which involves interviewing locals to learn from them and share their stories in regards to the precious Corridor. Through this, I hope to find the root causes of the Corridor's environmental issues and reach the community with viable solutions. And a joyful surprise: I rediscovered some of my passions, especially writing.

In doing this work, I was fortunate enough to meet some amazing people and to be given additional platforms to share about these efforts. I'll also be presenting this work at the 2026 Sustainability in Action Fall Symposium, scheduled for September 30, and showcasing more on Notre Dame's Just Transformations to Sustainability website. My hopes are to increase awareness about, cultivate appreciation for, and inspire positive action for the Corridor - and this whole beautiful world.

A glimpse into the work I've been doing this summer 🤍 My hope is that through this, people come to be more aware of the beautiful world around them and are empowered to care for it. We're all called to be good stewards of this earth - a place so mighty yet so delicate - and by doing so, we're also caring for one another 🤍🌱🌎🙌🏼

But the greatest of these is love ❤️‍🔥

What a blessing this first year at Notre Dame was. I was challenged in many ways, and at times, it felt like the circumstances were asking me to quit; at times, I just wanted a hug from my family. But this year of challenges was a year of trusting God, surrendering it all to Him, and being amazed, time and again ❤️‍🔥

I was taught a lot this year - about courage and curiosity, about myself, and about faith, hope, and love. The Lord has continued to show me He is always there and is, even now, making a way. The struggles make us stronger, more hopeful, more thankful; through them, we can learn what greatness is possible if only we have faith, seek the good, and don't give up.

Even from a different time zone, my family was always there for me. Wondrously enough, I grew closer to them, and I gained more family, too. Thank you to everyone who has become family, helping make Notre Dame home and life all the sweeter 💕

This first year at Notre Dame has been filled with gifts, and the greatest of these is love ❤️

Building LEGO sets with her little brother spread joy to my best friend Elyse as she navigated her battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and we invite you to join us in bringing smiles to other cancer warriors at the Dallas Children’s Hospital. Do His wonders never cease? 🥹❤️‍🔥

2025 was filled with trials and triumphs, struggles and growth, and through it all, God has been there, every step of the way. He has granted me so many opportunities, and although each may come with challenges, they all are ways through which He teaches the lessons needing to be learned. They all are helping me become who I am called to be.

In the hard moments, the plateaus, and the joyous times, the Lord has placed the people I need in my life. Maybe you don't realize it, but you might have been the person who made the difference ☺️🤍 Truly, thank you to everyone who has been there and shined the Lord's light. You are so loved, and I'm praying for wonder-filled times ahead for you! May God continue to guide and amaze us all ❤️‍🔥
