We make handmade soap.

But here's something we firmly believe:

Soap should be used.

Don't save that pretty bar forever because it looks too nice.

Put it by the sink.

Take it into the shower.

Get it wet. Get it bubbly. Use it until there's nothing left but a tiny sliver.

Then grab another one. 🧼

We'd much rather know someone enjoyed every last bit of a bar we made than hear it spent three years decorating a bathroom shelf.

Beautiful can still be useful.

We're Bill & Sharon, the two people behind Hass Soap Works.

There isn't a production crew hiding somewhere behind the scenes.

We make the soap.

And yes…occasionally argue about where something was put in the workshop. 😂

Product Spotlight: Sweater Weather

Some soap names just make sense this time of year.

Cooler mornings.

Leaves changing.

Sweatshirts coming out of the closet.

And Sweater Weather back by the sink or shower.

It's one of those scents that fits the season without needing a pumpkin stamped on it. 😉

FROM OUR WISCONSIN WORKSHOP

A Little Fall Magic from Our Soap Workshop

Fall is one of our favorite times of year here in Wisconsin. The cooler mornings, changing leaves, and familiar fall fragrances make this season feel a little extra special.

We've been bringing some of that fall feeling into our soap workshop, too!

One of our seasonal soaps is Marsh Hollow, a handmade bar with the cozy fragrance of pumpkin, sweet marshmallow, and warm vanilla. It's the kind of scent that reminds us of everything we enjoy about fall.

Every batch we make starts with oils and ingredients carefully measured and mixed by hand. After pouring and cutting, our soaps spend approximately 4–6 weeks curing before they're ready to use. It's a process that takes patience, but it's part of what we love about making real handmade soap.

We make soap weeks before you ever get to use it.

Why?

Our handmade soap is made using the cold process method, and once a batch is cut into bars, we don't immediately sell it.

It cures for about 4–6 weeks.

During that time, excess water evaporates and the bar becomes harder—which helps create a longer-lasting bar of soap.

So those bars sitting quietly on our curing racks?

They're not waiting around.

They're getting ready for your shower.

What happens after a big craft show?

It's not quite as exciting as the show itself. 😂

Everything comes home.

Soap gets counted. Displays get put away. Inventory gets updated. We figure out what sold well—and which soaps we need to start making again.

And then the soap shop gets busy.

Because unlike pulling another product off a warehouse shelf, a new batch of our cold process soap needs 4–6 weeks to cure before it's ready for you.

That's why we're usually making next month's soap while everyone else is thinking about this month.

Small-batch soapmaking definitely keeps us planning ahead!

We took crisp Macintosh apple and paired it with the warm sweetness of bourbon and vanilla.

It's fruity without smelling like candy and warm without being too heavy—a combination that feels right at home this time of year.
