They are noisy little creatures and ugly as sin but they are fantastic bug & tick eaters. They free range buffet all day, everyday and guarantee you need no further security than that blazing alarm everytime there is a hint of something they deem necessary of a secondary opinion.

Cole took the kids fishing so I unexpectedly came home to an empty house with no kids or husband or chaos….. Should I have cleaned? Started dinner? Done laundry or vacuumed?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

But you know this girl didn’t do that. 🤗 Instead I went crazy cutting my beauties & making arrangements for no reason other than I ♥️ them.

Gettin fair ready! 🛁

We have our county fair this weekend so kids are doin all the prep to get their birds ready for their big show! 🐓

It is best to bathe your birds atleast 3 days prior to show day because they will take awhile to get completely dry & fluffy again. We also have our fair birds separated from the rest of the group in grass to try to keep them as clean as possible. No free range life this week for our showgirls! 🤷‍♀️

(Not pictured here: The 5 Silkie princesses & prince, 1 displeased duck, and 1 indifferent cat Everett is also insisting on taking to the fair 🙄 Needless to say, bathtime was lonnngggg last night.)

Remember sweet little Lucy who was stolen from us? For any curious minds, she had a very happy ending. We were miraculously able to recover her unharmed after 5 days when the thief dumped her near a very remote truck stop along the highway about 30 miles from our property. Thankfully the owners had a shop dog who found Lucy near their dumpsters about half a mile from the shop early in the morning. Thanks to the thousands of eyes who had shared our story, she was recognized and they were able to contact me. I couldn’t believe it, I thought in the back of mind we would never see her again. 💔

I drug my feet a longggggg time “looking for a home for her” but ultimately Mr Schultz wasn’t havin it. 😂

As fate would have it, a kind soul reached out to me, she had a family friend who had recently lost their TWELVE year old GP and they were really missing him. They came to visit us and were smitten in no time. (Except one granddaughter who wanted Kevin instead. After breaking the news to her repeatedly that Kevin is in fact not up for grabs, she came around. 😉)

We talk about our puppies allllll the time & miss them so. We absolutely LOVE getting these updates from their new families. 💗💗💗💗 They actually sent me this a couple months ago so she’s even bigger than her mama now! But I was going down the rabbit hole looking at photos of the pups and decided this one was too funny not to share. 😊

We miss you sweet Lois!! She was the only egg of her bunch to hatch so she got allllllllll the attention & stayed in the house way too long. 😊

She free-ranged and roosted at night in the coop with all the other girls for about a year & a half. Probably identified as a big chicken. 😂 Then she started leaving home for a day or two, then a week, once a whole month, would pop back home for awhile before venturing back into the wild. Eventually she never came back, living the life as a wild turkey I hope!
