Patina 101: Halo Antique

Our Antique patina on steel is made to look like aged pewter, with natural highs and lows.

Why is it called Halo? Simple. It’s dark around the edges, light through the center, like the metal aged that way all on its own.

Our patinas are hand-guided reactions with the metal itself, so no two ever come out the same.

Well, would you look at this kitchen!🤩

We couldn’t be more proud of this one. The team House of L Designs designed a space we can’t stop admiring, and we were over the moon to build the piece at the center of it!

That’s our Mesa in Raven Black patina with antique brass straps. It contrasts the rest of the kitchen space beautifully, while still drawing those same vertical shapes found throughout.

Getting to work alongside designers this talented is the best part of what we do. House of L, you made this one sing, and we are honored our hood gets to live in a kitchen this beautiful. This one’s all yours! Take a bow. 🤎

Every hood that leaves our shop is signed.

Not by a machine, and not with a logo. It’s signed by the one person who built it start to finish, right there in the metal.

Once it’s hanging in your kitchen, it’s a little mark you’ll probably never notice. But it’s there because someone was proud enough of this piece to put their name on it... and we’re not really done until you’re just as proud of it as they are.

Years later and we’re still not over this one. 🔥

A custom gunmetal steel fireplace, hand-built to anchor the lobby at Trailborn Hotels & Resorts Rocky Mountain outpost. The tapered surround climbs the full height of the room and gives the whole space something to gather around. ☕️

Fireplaces might be our best kept secret. The same hands, and the same patina work that go into our range hoods, go into surrounds, cladding, and one-off pieces like this one.

Some kitchens you admire. This one you want to move into.🪴

Every bit of this is Phoebe Schuh and PS & Daughters. They took a 1930s stone colonial in Conshohocken and made it sing, white oak, soapstone, a sage island, every choice exactly right. We just got to build the hood, and we are honored it made the cut.

Here is the thing about a kitchen like this... trends will change over the years. But this style is timeless. And the hood is built to look exactly this good two decades from now. 🌿

Patina 101: Dark Washed

This is the “if you don’t know what to do, this one’s going to work” patina. One of our steel finishes in the Evergreen Collection, and popular for a reason... it pulls wood, stone and tile together in one breath. Warm tones, cool tones, taupes, it picks up whatever’s already in the room.

The movement is vertical, and that’s where “washed” comes from. Those lines running down the face are like an old awning where the water’s run down year after year, softening everything it touches. ✨

It’s a Signature finish, so all that depth comes at no additional cost, and it looks just as at home on a custom range hood as it does wrapped around a fireplace.

Truth is, there isn’t one answer. A range hood can be four completely different things at four completely different prices, so instead of hitting you with a number that makes your stomach drop, we’d rather just talk it through. Well, this one has us feeling all kinds of proud. 🧡

A little while back, this gorgeous Fort Collins kitchen showed up in Domino, and we are still over the moon about it every time we scroll past. ✨ State Studio designed a space that is warm and layered and full of personality, from the green tile to those incredible Moroccan lanterns, and Builders Craft Construction built it exactly the way it deserved to be built. Getting to make the Box hood in Rustic Iron for a kitchen this special was such an honor. 😍

Working alongside partners who care this much about the details, start to finish, is exactly why we love what we do.

Okay, we couldn’t keep this one to ourselves any longer. ✨

You loved this kitchen the first time around, so for everyone who missed it... here she is again! 😍

Our custom steel box hood, built by hand in our little Fort Collins shop and finished in a deep, moody patina that lets all that gorgeous wood and stone do their thing. One piece, one person, a whole lot of love. It’s the kind of custom range hood that makes the whole kitchen feel intentional.

All our love to Studio Daub for dreaming up this stunner and to Madeline Tolle for the swoon-worthy photos. 📸
