SH Modern celebrates Pride Month with Andy Mouse (1985) by Keith Haring.

A defining figure of 1980s New York, Keith Haring brought a bold and recognizable visual language to contemporary art. In Andy Mouse, he combines the likeness of his friend Andy Warhol with the iconic image of Mickey Mouse, blending fine art and popular culture in a playful tribute to creativity, influence, and collaboration.

Haring and Warhol were among the most influential artists of their generation, each closely connected to the cultural and creative communities that helped shape the late 20th century, contributing distinct and innovative artistic voices.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the power of art to inspire conversation, foster connection, and reflect the diverse perspectives that enrich our cultural heritage.

✨ Where Art Meets Purpose ✨

This past weekend, SH Modern Art hosted an elegant afternoon soirée where art, fashion, and philanthropy came together in support of Eva’s Closet & Foundation.

Guests enjoyed an inspiring collection of artwork from SH Modern Art, luxury handbags and accessories from Fai Moda, and curated jewelry pieces from Blue Blood Metal, all while learning about the meaningful work Eva’s Closet & Foundation is doing throughout Southwest Florida.
While the event itself has come to a close, the opportunity to make an impact continues.

Continuing through the end of the month, a portion of proceeds will benefit Eva’s Closet & Foundation, helping provide clothing, household essentials, food, school supplies, and other necessities to individuals and families in need.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this afternoon such a beautiful celebration of creativity, community, and giving back. 💜

Can you guess what inspired this piece?

The Met Gala’s dress code, “Fashion is Art,” set the tone for a night where fashion and fine art seamlessly collided. We’re exploring some of our favorite art-inspired moments from the evening. First up, Gustav Klimt.

Gracie Abrams’ custom Chanel gown draws clear inspiration from Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (1907), often referred to as “The Woman in Gold.” One of Klimt’s most celebrated works, the painting is iconic for its opulent gold leaf, intricate geometric patterns, and mosaic-like surface that almost dissolves the figure into ornament. It represents the height of Klimt’s “Golden Phase,” where portraiture, symbolism, and decorative patterning merge into something both intimate and monumental.

Speaking of art and fashion, join us on May 30th for an afternoon soirée at SH Modern celebrating this very intersection, where art, style, and community come together with purpose.

Stay tuned for more moments where art steps off the canvas…

On this Memorial Day, SH Modern is honored to present Reds by Donald Sultan, a work that transforms a simple flower into a meditation on memory, beauty, and loss.

Sultan’s poppies draw from the fields of Flanders, where the flower emerged in the aftermath of World War I, growing across battle-scarred landscapes and becoming a lasting symbol of both loss and renewal.

Today, the red poppy remains one of the most recognized emblems of remembrance, worn to honor fallen soldiers, support veterans and military families, and keep traditions of remembrance alive.

In his hands, the poppy feels both fragile and industrial, organic in form, yet deliberately constructed, balancing delicacy with a sense of weight. Through repetition and abstraction, Sultan reflects on how memory is carried forward through time.

As we honor those who have served, Reds invites a moment of reflection on what is remembered, what endures, and what is transformed.

From the SH Modern team, we wish you a meaningful Memorial Day.

What makes an artist gallery-worthy?

At SH Modern, we look for three defining qualities:
— An established presence in the art world
— A unique visual voice
— A consistent body of work that is instantly recognizable

That’s why we’re proud to welcome Mary Elizabeth Marvin to the gallery.

An internationally collected fine artist trained in the European classical tradition, Marvin creates abstract works exploring stillness, memory, and emotional presence through a disciplined, series-based practice.

Her work has been exhibited through institutions including the Corcoran Museum in Washington, DC and the New Britain Museum of American Art.

Most importantly, her work reflects a distinctly original voice, one we immediately connected with and are proud to represent at SH Modern.

Happy Mother’s Day from the SH Modern team 🤍

Mary Cassatt’s Mother’s Kiss captures a fleeting, intimate moment with remarkable restraint and sensitivity. Created as part of her celebrated 1891 color print series in Paris, the work reflects her admiration for Japanese printmaking, seen in its flattened space, delicate line, and quiet elegance.

With a single, fluid contour connecting mother and child, Cassatt conveys both physical closeness and emotional depth. It is this ability to distill tenderness into form that has made her work enduring and universally resonant.

A timeless tribute to motherhood, Mother’s Kiss remains as meaningful today as when it was first created.
