New Bell stand Completed for Easter at Saint Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church
MK Architecture recently completed a new bell stand for Saint Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church, just in time for Easter Sunday.
The open-air pavilion features exposed wood beams and a clay tile roof, creating a simple, timeless design that complements the existing campus. Suspended bells serve as both a visual centerpiece and a functional element, calling the congregation to worship.
The bells serve as the 'Voice of the Church' and stand as a meaningful addition signifying the Church’s triumphal joy because of Christ’s victory, echoing the message of salvation, and inviting both parishioners and the community to divine worship and prayer.

MK Architecture Supports Women Build 2026; Designer Steffi Bandril Plays Key Role in Construction and Community Design
MK Architecture is proud to support Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build 2026, an inspiring initiative that empowers women and families in our community through safe, affordable housing. This year’s campaign continues to bring people together to make a meaningful, lasting impact, one home at a time.
We are especially proud to highlight Steffi Bandril, Intern Architect at MK Architecture, who was hands-on in the field, actively participating in the construction of a Women Build home. In addition to her work on-site, Steffi is also the designer behind Habitat for Humanity’s Heritage Heights Townhouse projects, bringing thoughtful, functional design to a community that will serve families for years to come.
Her involvement reflects the true spirit of Women Build, where passion meets purpose. At MK Architecture, we believe great design goes beyond buildings; it helps build stronger communities, and Steffi’s contribution is a perfect example of that commitment.

We’re in the final stretch of our Women Build campaign! 💪
With just two weeks left, we’ve reached over 60% of our $500,000 goal—but we can’t get to the finish line without you.
Every dollar helps provide safe, affordable housing for women-led households in our community—mothers, grandmothers, and hardworking women building a better future for their families.

FUN FACT FRIDAY :The oldest architectural plan was discovered in Iraq dates back to the Mesopotamia civilization

In addition to the written sources, there are also architectural drawings on durable clay tablets or in the form of a natural-scale floor plan directly on the building from the early high cultures in Mesopotamia. These construction drawings are compiled in a catalog. What is striking is the very small number of drawings, some of which are only fragmentary, and their distribution with forty floor plans and one elevation. Whether these architectural drawings can be given a clearly defined role in the design process is debatable in research. The interpretation of the panels itself also shows many facets. What is certain, however, is that the Mesopotamian architectural drawings convey a wide variety of additional information about the building industry. This source allows the assumption that the builders as well as the administrative officials drafted construction drawings and /or building specifications as planning - and means of communication served; which also included archiving over longer periods of time.

FUN FACT FRIDAY: New York’s Windowless Skyscraper

If you’ve ever walked past the building at 33 Thomas Street in New York City, you have probably noticed it is missing a key architectural feature typically found on skyscrapers: windows.

Completed in 1974, the building was designed by John Carl Warnecke for AT&T to house switching equipment, cables, and computers for their Long Lines Department, which is why the building is sometimes called the Long Lines Building. AT&T wanted to build a building that could withstand a nuclear blast.

The building has its own gas and water supplies and was outfitted with enough food to feed 1,500 workers for two weeks in case of a nuclear attack so that communication lines would not be compromised.

According to an investigative report by The Intercept and based on documents obtained from Edward Snowden, the National Security Agency whistleblower, the building has had a more nefarious use than just a telephone exchange. According to that report, the NSA has used the building as a surveillance site with the code name TITANPOINTE.

MK Architecture specializes in commercial office, high-rise and multi-family developments with offices located in Fort Myers, Naples, and Lexington, Kentucky.
