I am so looking forward to this new show on HGTV! I met Ben and Erin at the Country Living Fair and they are super sweet, down to earth people with such a cool vibe. Their pilot show was awesome — LOVE their style — and I can't wait to see more!

I would like to say "thank you" to everyone who has supported my booths at Myrtle Jane's and 1620 Market. Several weeks ago we decided to close our booths at both locations. While I certainly enjoy finding and sharing treasures for others to bring into their homes, we made the decision to close the booths in order to make space for other things in our lives. The New Year will hold many changes for us, with our daughter who took a job in Montgomery (we'll need to be more intentional about making time to visit with her) and our son who is now engaged (a wedding to plan this fall, maybe?). Plus, with a growing business, some health issues I'm trying to get on top of and Stephen's continued health challenges, it was time to cut back on some commitments. We have been blessed with new friends, and are thankful for all those who have supported us. And we are especially thankful for the great folks at Myrtle Jane's and 1620 Market — they are awesome, so please keep supporting them! While it's a little sad to say goodbye to the junking hobby, we are excited about what 2017 has waiting for us. We do plan on keeping this page open and will be posting updates on our home projects and hopefully posting more on our blog in the coming year as well. Thanks again, God bless and let's make the New Year the best one yet!

I set up a new booth today at 1620 Market in Rainsville. Owners Pam and Steven Skaggs have a store full of great antiques and more! Be sure to like their page, and make plans to visit during the opening weekend Thursday - Saturday, the 15th-17th. The store is located at 1930 Garrett Street (behind Plainview school). EXTREME MAKEOVER – Our niece gave us quite the challenge with this piece. At first I wondered if it was salvageable. The bright paint was so thick. The top was a type of masonite board with a cheap metal banding. But something about this little cabinet made me believe it had potential. Maybe it was the stained shelving on the inside, which was in good shape. It definitely had some character, and I felt like I could bring that out. So we took the challenge. We removed the door to expose the shelves, and Stephen helped me replace the top with a nice piece of shelving board we had in the shed. We also replaced the flimsy back with a some thin tongue-and-groove boards from Lowe's. I stained the top, and with lots of sanding and a couple of coats of paint, all it needed was some round wooden legs to give it a little height. We were very pleased with the end result.
