TJ Brown's Woodshop

TJ Brown's Woodshop Howdy, my name is TJ Brown. I live in Fort Smith Arkansas. I've been using a scroll saw to create artwork for over 40 years. My color filled fretwork.

My Intarsia & Fretwork use the natural colors of the different woods. Well, that’s a different story.

We had 26 days of 100 degree and above temperatures here in Fort Smith last month. So far, September isn’t looking/feeling any better. What’s the temperature where you’re at right now?

I started the stack cutting on a set of the Night & Day crosses. I’m using walnut and maple again. When I get done, I’ll post a tutorial of the process.

My late father in law who was into genealogy, ran across a cousin of mine that I didn’t know I had in California several years back. I gave her a call and we ended up staying in touch. Every year or two she would drive back to Arkansas for a visit with family. Around 15 years ago she brought me a couple of old growth redwood 4 x 4’s that she had. She passed away a few years ago and I had forgotten about them and just run across them tonight in my shop. I’ll be using them in a project soon.

Here’s one of my color filled tree of life’s that I thought I had sold and just ran across it in my storage cabinet.

Started on another set of my night and day crosses this evening. I’m going to stack cut them so they will be perfect matches. They are approximately 10 inches tall and 7 inches wide and with the backer will be 1/2 inch thick. If they come out like I hope. They will be $110 each or $200 for the set. Shipping is included in the price.

Here’s a throwback to an intarsia piece that I made for my first grandson Noah. The original design came from the late Bruce Worthington. All the colors you see are the natural colors of the different woods, no stains or paints
