A Frank Lloyd Wright ceiling light from the Francis W. Little House in Peoria, Illinois, set a new auction record this past Wednesday, selling for $2.9 million, six times its high estimate. The sale of the ceiling light is a testament to the enduring appeal of Wright’s work. His designs are still admired and sought-after by collectors worldwide.

The light is considered an exceptional example of the Prairie Style, a movement that Wright helped to popularize. The fixture is made of iridized and opalescent glass, "colonial" brass-plated came, patinated bronze, and it features a geometric pattern that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Sotheby's auction of The American Art Collection of Erving and Joy Wolf occurred in New York City and featured works by other notable American artists.
