How to care for your new cutting board:

Hand wash only. Do not soak, and for the love of all you hold dear, please do not place it in your dishwasher.

Dish soap, warm water and a mild brush, do not use scalding hot water, the water and a mild brush do most of the work, the soap just helps loosen any fats and oils.

Wipe it dry with a dish towel and allow to air dry in a dish rack or on its side. Do not lay flat to dry.

When storing your board, store it on its side and allow for airflow on both sides. Even in a finished state, wood is susceptible to humidity changes, and to ensure your board looks and functions great for you for years to come, ensuring even exposure to air will prevent warping and cracking.

If your purchased your board from me, it came with a small tub of board butter. This butter is made with food grade mineral oil (for moisture), food grade beeswax (for a wax protective layer), and food grade carnuaba wax (a harder wax to help the primary beeswax layer last longer) .

When your board starts looking dry, take a small amount, place it on the board and buff it in with a paper towel, it won't take much(they come from me with a heavy coat applied to establish a base layer). Leave it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then wipe off any remaining with a clean paper towel. It will leave a light sheen once the excess is wiped off.

Additional tins of butter are available on my products page when you need more.

Welcome to MHB HARDWOODS, a place where I will showcase what I've been creating in the shop. I'll post pieces for sale as I make them and right now have the ability to ship in the contiguous 48 states. I am not currently taking commission orders at this time, but hope to open up limited slots as I find time in my schedule.
