I've been intrigued by a colorful glass tile that hangs on the wall at a friends house. Wanted to see if I could recreate this patten in wood.

After several months of work, here is my adaptation as a charcuterie board. Couldn't do the green color as that generally means that its not seasoned wood. Used cherry instead with yellow hart for the yellow and padauk for the red color. Thin strips between pieces are mahogany, and the white is maple. Final surrounding border is walnut. Board is all end-grain and measures 10"X 18"X 1 3/4".

For construction, I started from the center and built outwards taking advantage of symmetry where possible. About 25 individual glue steps to get to the final product. Finished with Odie's Oil and beeswax.

Took a break from making cutting boards to remodel our pantry. We had those cheap wire shelves that the builder puts in, somewhat functional but ugly. Removed all the wire shelves, spent a day filling all the mounting holes from these, and then could begin the construction of the new cabinet and shelving. Took about 2 weeks in total, but was fun to build. Going to add some under shelf LED lighting over the counter top. Now to put all our junk back in...

A neighbor gave me some scrap cutoffs from a maple butcher block counter he is building. The butcher block is the prefabricated stuff you can get from Lowe’s etc. I was able to take these and make an end-grain cutting board with a cherry boarder. Nothing complicated here in terms of the construction, but I really like how the grain patterns came out in the maple center. I’m going to keep watch and see if he has any other scraps to donate!

These pickleball paddles look great on the court, but even better on the kitchen counter. DM for pricing and details.
