I know that some of you don't know me or my story so I thought it was time I share my story with all of you.
I have been knitting since I was in grade school. I was taught by my blind mother and grandmother. When I was a teenager, I learned to crochet from my grandmother. I’ve always done the beginner patterns because I was afraid to do any other level of complicated stitches (intermediate or advanced) for fear of messing it up or doing something wrong. When I became an adult, I occasionally picked up a crochet hook or knitting needles and created something easy, like a scarf, for a loved one.
In 2002, my mother was staying with me during a bad storm and I asked her if I bought the yarn and needles, would she teach me how to make a dishcloth like she did and give me the pattern. After she taught me how, she gave me the pattern and I made a few when I needed a gift for someone at Christmas, a birthday, a bridal shower, a wedding, baby shower, or an anniversary. These dishcloths can be considered to be in the same category as the energizer bunny, they can be used, washed and dried, and used again just like the energizer bunny who keeps going and going. I also can make these dishcloths smaller to be used as a washcloth for a newborn/infant, toddlers, etc.
At the beginning of 2022 my mother passed away and I decided that since Mom couldn’t make these dishcloths anymore, then I would carry on the legacy she left me with, the dishcloths.
A few years ago I was diagnosed with anxiety and needed something to focus on to relieve the stress over situations I reluctantly found myself a part of and couldn’t control. I started making the dishcloths and each one I tried to make quicker than the last one. I was trying to challenge my mother’s record, but have been quite unsuccessful. I still enjoy the process it takes to create the dishcloths and it relieves my stress and has become very relaxing for me, so that’s a good thing.
This past spring I found the perfect pattern for a hot pad to place under a hot pan on the dinner table. I have made several in various colors and would be willing to find a color(s) of yarn to make a special set for any color palette, scheme, decor, etc.
In the last 25+ years, I’ve made blankets for my kids (sometimes even made replacements for whatever reason). I currently have a crocheted afghan/blanket with a very thick blanket yarn that can be used as a lap afghan/blanket to be placed over someone’s lap/legs. The rest of my blanket inventory is two knitted blankets with heavy baby blanket yarn to keep a little one nice and warm in the cold winter months, one is made of colors (earth tones) that I would consider for a boy and the other is for a girl. The last one is made with RedHeart thin blue yarn for a boy, good for the summer months. I will also take special orders for anyone that wants to give a mother-to-be or a new mother a blanket for the new addition to their family.
Below you will find pictures of my creations and designs. I hope that you will see something that matches the colors in your home, then come by my booth on August 23, 2025 at the Frankfort Airport Hanger for Community Day and see for yourself in person what I have available for sale There will be all kinds of activities to participate in at the Airport, come on out, check out what's available to participate in, including vendors from the Frankfort Market showing their goods and merchandise.
