Design MACS is an all inclusive interior design and build firm that has assisted clients throughout NJ, NYC and abroad in realizing their design dreams.

I love the challenge of designing for clients. Through other companies I have created spaces for celebrities such as Kris Humphries, Today Show correspondent Jenna Wolfe, and Charles Kelley from the country music group Lady Antebellum. I aim for my designs to always be fresh and exciting integrating new products and artists into my projects, making each space truly one of a kind. I have appeared in episodes of Designed to Sell, Dear Genevieve, and Home Rules on HGTV as well as other series on the DIY Network and A&E. After working on these shows, I have decided it is time to grow my own business. As the owner of Design MACS, LLC, I am able to share my passion, enthusiasm, and expertise in designing functional yet exciting spaces. I am not afraid to tackle any space or client and enjoy working hand in hand with the build team to ensure a product that surpasses expectations.

A little fringe, a little whimsy, and plenty of inspiration.

As we explore the showrooms at High Point Market in North Carolina, one detail keeps catching our eye: fringe. Its movement, texture, and playful charm bring a beautiful sense of personality to furnishings and interiors.

It’s a detail that we have always loved, and we’re delighted to see it appearing throughout the market.

Between inspiring conversations, new collections, and creative discoveries, we’re gathering fresh perspectives to bring back to the studio.

And we’re just getting started. Looking forward to seeing what else the market has in store.

Some of the most important design decisions happen in the moments no one plans for.

When the stone for this bathroom sink arrived with a misaligned cut, the surrounding details had to be reconsidered. Marissa revisited the design with fresh eyes and turned an unexpected challenge into a more refined solution.

Because we remain involved through installation, each adjustment can be made with care, proportion, and intention. The finished counter feels seamless, considered, and beautifully integrated.

Grateful to granitetops and for bringing ideas, craftsmanship, and quick collaboration to make it feel as if it was always meant to be this way.

The most used spaces in a home deserve thoughtful consideration.

Here, custom pull-out hampers create a seamless place for laundry to live, keeping the room organized while allowing the cabinetry to feel refined and intentional. Function becomes part of the design language, supporting the way the home is lived in each day.

In this home spa, natural materials set the atmosphere.

Underfoot, bluestone pavers meant for the outdoors meet stepping stones and a soft pebble floor. The walls are finished in Tadelakt, an ancient Moroccan lime plaster technique that creates seamless, waterproof surfaces. Behind the loungers, a stacked stone wall was laid by hand, and behind the waterfall, ledgestone gives the water the look of spilling down the stone itself.

Paired with soft ambient light, greenery, and warm architectural details, every texture invites you to slow down and stay awhile.

A quiet study in materiality, craftsmanship, and the beauty of natural elements brought indoors.

Serenity, with Contrast.

An upholstered wingback bed, crisp white bedding, and warm neutrals wrap the room in calm, while charcoal velvet, striking woven nightstands, black iron and windows give all that softness something to lean on. Gentle enough to rest in, bold enough to remember.

Light drifts through the window and catches the glass pendant so it seems to hover. Ivory drapery rises toward the tray ceiling. At the foot of the bed, a stack of books invites you to sit for a moment before the day begins.

A custom look, designed for real life.

For this long, uniquely shaped bedroom, we used modular carpet tiles to create a tailored composition that follows the room’s proportions without the investment of a fully custom rug.

The result brings warmth, comfort, and durability, while making everyday maintenance easier. Individual tiles can also be replaced as needed, making this a practical choice for a well-lived space.

We selected for its refined patterns and the flexibility of its modular format, allowing us to create a solution that feels intentional, elevated, and perfectly suited to the room.

Because good design isn’t just about how a space looks. It’s about how it lives.

Meet Marissa Sauer, founder of Design MACS, whose vision sets the creative direction for our talented team.

“I’ve loved design since I was a little girl, flipping through the fabric books my mom brought home. There’s something so soothing to me about everything finding its place, a home feeling cohesive, and those special details that make a space feel personal and warm.”

That love of design took Marissa behind the scenes of home renovation television and into the world of events, where she learned to transform a space, tell a story through every detail, and bring a big vision to life beautifully and on schedule.

We are dreamers here. Our stories are told through fabrics and millwork, all woven together into one beautiful whole. Pull one thread and the story changes.

Most range hoods are only designed to be seen from the front. This showstopper was designed to be seen from every angle.

When we reconfigured this kitchen, we expanded the windows to flood the space with light and put the lush yard on full display. That also meant the hood was now visible on all sides, including the back, which most hoods are never designed for.

We worked with CopperSmith® to fully customize this piece, so the back could be just as beautiful as the front. We selected the exact finishes and nailhead spacing, confirmed in drawings long before fabrication began.

It is the kind of detail most people will never consciously notice. But it is exactly why this kitchen feels considered from every angle.
