This is my favorite fall project to date. I adore this dried hydrangea wreath.

It is so easy to make too.
1. You need two different size hydrangeas, large and small.
2. A grapevine wreath, mine was an 18 inch wreath.
3. I added the larger flowers first and then filled in with the smaller flowers.
4. I leave the stems on the hydrangeas long. It makes it easy to secure them in the wreath, then I go back and clip the stems.
5. You can take it outside and spray it with some hairspray to keep the petals from falling.
6. I added this adorable quilted bow from Abby Abby Fischbeck • Itty Bitty Cottage .

I hung my wreath on the cabinet I have in my living room. It is SO cozy! 🫶

August has been lovely. Full of flowers, sunshine and time in the garden. I always get a little sad this time of year as my garden starts to fade, but I am looking forward to a cozy fall ahead.

The last gifts of the garden.

I decided the last of the flowers needed to be enjoyed, so I cut a huge bouquet yesterday.

They add so much cheer here in the kitchen.

I know cosmos don’t last long in bouquets but I had to cut down a bunch of them that were damaged from a storm, so I thought they should be enjoyed while they last.

Totally on a mission this year to decorate seasonally in simple ways.

It is my humble opinion that you can pretty much decorate your entire house for fall using dried hydrangeas.

Put them in a basket. Make a wreath. Add them to an antique crock. Tuck them in a cloche. Put them on your kitchen table. Hang them from your chandelier.
Put them pretty much anywhere!

What do I love about decorating like this? It’s simple. It’s easy. It’s very affordable. Plus, you can store them and use them for several years. That’s a win in my book.

This lamp was a lovely salmon color when I saw it sitting on the shelf at the thrift store. I looked at the price… $8, I thought, “ I have big plans for this.”

I got to work by covering the salmon color with a pretty warm white ( I used the Sherwin Williams color: Dover White). I then went digging around in my craft bins and found some napkins that I used last year around the holidays for some projects. Perfect.

I used a decoupage technique to create the design on the lamp base.
1. Peel the back layer of the napkin off, so you only have the top layer.
2. Cut as much of the white space away from the design, this makes a much nicer finished product.
3. I add just a few drops of water to my Mod Podge to thin it out some. You don’t want you add too much water because that will make the napkin too soggy, but adding just a little bit helps to prevent wrinkles in the design.

I created the pleated lampshade using a thrifted sheet. I followed Heidi’s Heidi Samia | Simple Cozy Home tutorial and it was so helpful!

I love the cozy, cottage feeling this simple DIY added to my bedroom!

Always remember when you are thrifting, color is one of the easiest things to change using some paint. Look beyond the color that you see and look for the potential the piece has.

The beginnings of cozy season in my home.

I decided to start with the small corners of my home and welcome fall, little by little. One small change at a time.

I am making small changes around here as I feel inspired.

I honestly didn’t change much on my mantel. Swapped some books. Added a few stems and ribbon. That’s it.

We are keeping things simple, but cozy here this year! 🫶

My only goal for fall this year? Cozy. I’ll be honest, it’s taking me some time to get into feeling like decorating for fall this year. I started with a few cozy little corners, but that’s really it so far.

My home is a mix of summer and a little bit of fall. I have tons of green in my home still with a few fall stems sprinkled in.

My garden is starting to fade and I have seen a few falling leaves here and there. I have noticed a slight shift in the air around here.

Also… I often get some questions about the baskets in front of my fireplace. They live there during the warmer months when we don’t use the fireplace as much and then move to a new home during the colder months. 😊

I am looking forward to sharing my slow, simple transition to fall this year.

How does your home tell your family’s story? For me, pieces with meaning will always be front and center in my home. They are what gives a home soul.

This blank wall in my home was begging for some character and I knew a gallery wall would be perfect here.

I spent weeks thrifting and gathering frames for this space as well as the perfect wood shelf. Everything you see here is from the thrift store.

I painted all the frames white to create a cohesive look, but added charm by mixing a bunch of different frames together. I printed a bunch of family photos in black and white (I think they are timeless) and then got to work putting my vision together.

White and warm wood tones will always be my favorite combination. It makes this corner of our living room so cozy.
