This is the Buoy Kerchief by Elizabeth Smith , a simple, top-down kerchief/scarf that calls for worsted-weight yarn but it can easily be adjusted to work with other yarn weights too. The red/brown version is Mirasol Pima Paka, a beautiful 100% organic pima cotton. This yarn is considered a sport-weight, so we used a US 5 needle (instead of the suggested US 7). And when working the pattern, we followed the length measurements instead of stitch counts. Kimberly’s daughters popped into the shop at just the right time to model both versions for us. Twins modeling our twin kerchiefs - how perfect!

We’re thrilled to be hosting Boston-based indie dyer Dirty Water DyeWorks here at Mother of Purl for a trunk show event on Saturday, Sept 19, from 10am to 1pm! Summer may be signing off here in Maine but the Maine Yarn Cruise still has almost 8 weeks to go 🤗. Fall is a great time for a road trip . While you are planning your shop stops you can go in search of Maines best lobster roll or visit a different brewery each weekend. We have more than a few of both here in Visit Freeport Yarn, fall foliage,lobster and craft beer 🧶🍁🦞🍺. We hope to see you all this fall !

We have added Ella Rae Yarns Rustic Aran to our Aran weight selection. If you’re thinking of starting your first sweater , needing a new cardigan or you are ready to take on cables an Aran weight project is a great place to start. Alicia Plummer new pattern is out today. The Summer Stripes sweater is a unisex top down raglan that’s adaptable for both wool and plant based yarns! I enjoyed this test knit and I LOVE the look ,feel and drape of Lots of testers used SandnesGarn Line and we also think this would be lovely in malabrigo Silky Merino. We will have this in the shop as a sample after this weekend… I have to wear it just a bit before giving it up for a while 😭.
