This set of abandoned dining table legs made their way back to life as a sink console. I had my contractor refinish the legs and make the sink base for the soapstone vanity top. Copper details in the wall mount faucet and hand pounded basin finished the antique charm of this vanity.

I’ve always enjoyed puzzles. Designing a modern, gourmet cook-space can often feel like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. A cooktop originally located in the peninsula was replaced with a slide-in range, which replaced the original dishwasher. Pots & pans drawers took the place of the original refrigerator. The sink was offset center of the window to make space for the relocated dishwasher. The puzzle pieces fell perfectly into place for my clients’ lovely family.

Removing the wall between the living room and kitchen created the open concept my clients needed for their young family. We installed a bespoke banquette between the windows where a wall once separated the space. Also, by eliminating the soffit which ran through the entire kitchen (done by an incredibly talented plumber) we created more height and uninterrupted space. My client’s, “Scandinavian Modernism,” style was such a fun way to mix modern lighting with classic details. Family furniture which has been passed down a generation will continue to create family memories.

When designing my clients’ kitchen making optimal use out of every square foot was essential. By removing the rear kitchen wall and eliminating an unnecessary closet we were able to create space for the pantry and coffee bar, which can be used as a cocktail bar when guests arrive!

My clients, a young, active family, purchased a fixer-upper with much appeal. After removing walls and opening up the living space we were able to create a floor plan better suited for a family on the go. The bespoke, white oak, herringbone floor was installed throughout the main living area. Custom-made cabinetry was necessary to optimize the square footage of the kitchen. We removed a wall and an unnecessary coat closet to make space for a pantry armoire. This also gave us enough space for a coffee bar that doubles as a cocktail bar for parties. The earthy, black soapstone countertops were the perfect juxtaposition for the modern, pale blue, beveled glass backsplash. A few delays caused the oven hood installation to be delayed, but once in, looked perfect. We also removed a wall between the living room and breakfast nook. This allowed the two rooms to have fluidity from breakfast, to homework, to crafts & board games, to ball games on the TV in the living room.

Designing a small, bespoke space requires custom pieces. Working with my custom cabinetmaker we created a double vanity where a standard size would never have fit. To give extra counter space, and to create another custom element, I designed a shelf with corbels for a classic touch. Placing the wall sconces on the mirror added extra reflected light while visually expanding the space of this small bathroom.

It was time for a spa update. The extremely outdated whirlpool bath bathtub needed to go. I designed a modern walk-in shower with classic details. The shower head gives the home owners several options from rain shower to power massage. Eliminating the lowered ceiling and hinged shower door created an openness that helped this shower feel much larger in a small space.

This kitchen was a blend of old and new. When my clients purchased the home it came with higher end appliances and well-built custom cabinetry. However, the island didn’t make sense nor properly utilize the space of the kitchen. I designed an L-shaped island which gave my clients needed counter space and a place for guests & family to gather.
