I have to confess… last Thursday I missed my daughters’ sports awards to attend an art show featuring my work. 🫣✨

For the FIRST time, I exhibited a traditional mixed media piece for ArtHop inspired by my roots and the beautiful process of nixtamal. 🌽 Seeing my work hanging on those walls felt surreal. 💗

That night, I said hi to friends then sat alone, enjoyed my dinner, and reflected on my decision. And honestly, it felt right because it’s not only about showing up for your kids, it’s also about leading by example and showing them what it looks like to honor your own dreams too. 🫶🏽✨

Still recovering from all the love, laughter, and beautiful energy from this weekend. ✨💗

One of my favorite things about the event is connecting with my community, meeting new friends, and seeing familiar faces year after year. 🎨✨

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth, supported my art, and shared kind words. Events like this remind me why I keep creating. 🫶🏽✨💕

Annnnd just like that, it’s over! 🥲✨

Our student art show was a celebration of all the creativity, growth, and hard work our students poured into their art this semester. From learning about art history, experimenting with mediums, techniques, and our messy adventures together, every piece on those walls held a story. 🎨

After every project, students would ask to take their artwork home, and we kept saying, “You’ll get it back after the art show!” Well… the big day finally came, and seeing their excitement as they searched for their artwork and the reactions from parents made it all worth it. 🥹🫶🏽

It’s been such a joy teaching in the afterschool program and working alongside my amazing team, . This show was a celebration of our students, and a reflection of our team’s dedication to bringing meaningful art experiences into the classroom. ✨💗

I thought yoga wasn’t for me… turns out I just wasn’t ready yet 😅
My mind was loud, my body was restless, and I kept peeking during Savasana waiting for it to be over. Didn’t go back for a looong time.

Years later I found Tower Yoga and stuck with it. Still hard. Still humbling. But I keep showing up. Now it’s part of my routine. 🫶🏽

So being able to paint a mural here feels like a full circle. Grateful for spaces like this that meet you where you’re at.

Lowkey one of my favorite ways to spend my weekends lately 🎨✨

Took a 2-part color theory workshop taught by and got back into student mode, mixing, experimenting, and just playing with color. 🌈 Had so much fun creating with friends, laughing, and so much learning! 🙌🏽
