I’ve gained a bunch of new followers over the last month or so, so I wanted to introduce myself to the folks who are new and don’t know me!
My name is Joy. Ive been married for going on 6 years. I’m Mama to a very energetic 3 year old little boy. I also work full time as an attorney at the Public Defender’s Office.
I started sewing before I could drive. My Mom was pretty crafty and has made her fair share of quilts, but the quilting passion comes from my Dad’s side. My Nanny was always working on a quilt. As she got older and had issues seeing, my Dad would assist her by cutting her pieces and strips.
I made my first t-shirt quilt when I was a freshman in college. It was quite a fiasco. Since then I’ve perfected my process. 🙂
I started out just doing quilts for friends and then word spread and I started getting requests from all over.
Before I had my son, I could zip a quilt top out in a weekend. Now it takes a little longer as I try to only work on my quilts when he is sleeping, so that means things run a little slower.
I’ve made quilt tops from t-shirts, sports jerseys/uniforms, button down shirts, baby clothes/bibs/hats and... even towels 🙂
High school quilts, college quilts, memory quilts, experience quilts .... you name it, I’ve done it and I love it. I love how each quilt tells a story!
Take a few minutes and browse the photo albums and if you’re ready to part with your shirts, reach out and let’s chat! I’d love to help you preserve your memories and create a quilt!
