If reading pillows aren't your thing, what about book sleeves? This Chicago Cubs book sleeve has a button closure to keep your book safe. On the other side is a handy pocket with a snap closure for bookmarks, reading glasses, notes, or other small essentials. This sleeve is big enough to hold a kindle. I make them in 3 sizes: Small approximately 6"x 9" (holds small paper back books.) Medium approximately 7" x 10" (holds bigger or wider books.) Large approximately 9" x 11" (holds kindles, larger books.)
