Good afternoon, everyone.
I have the honor of sharing something that is very special to all of us at the Ganado Farmer’s Market—our scholarship program. In 2020, we started the Ganado Farmer’s Market Scholarship with the hope of creating an opportunity for local students to not only receive financial support for their future, but to also learn the importance of community involvement, service, and giving back. What started as a simple idea has now grown into something we are incredibly proud of. This is now our seventh year offering this scholarship, and over the years, we have been honored to award scholarships to 15 graduates as they take the next step into college, junior college, or trade school. This scholarship is available to students from freshman through senior year, giving them the opportunity to begin volunteering early and grow with us throughout their high school years. To earn this scholarship, students dedicate their time by volunteering at our Farmer’s Market events throughout the year. Their two mandatory events are our biggest community gatherings: ● The Crawfish Festival ● Christmas in the Park In addition to these events, students also earn hours by helping at our additional markets throughout the year. At the end of the school year, students submit proof of enrollment into a junior college, university, or trade school, they receive scholarship funds to assist with tuition and educational expenses. What makes this scholarship so meaningful is that it is truly earned. It reflects commitment, reliability, and a willingness to serve others. The Ganado Farmer’s Market has always believed that community is built when people show up for one another, and these students have done exactly that. This year, we are especially excited to recognize two outstanding young ladies who have volunteered with us this season and exemplified everything this scholarship stands for. Their hard work, dedication, and service to our community have made them deserving recipients of this award, and we are honored to be a small part of their journey as they move forward into this next chapter of life. To our recipients: congratulations. We are proud of you, we appreciate your time and dedication, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish in the future. Thank you all for supporting the Ganado Farmer’s Market and helping make opportunities like this possible for our students and our community.
