Today is International Overdose Awareness Day 💜🩵

Opioid use and overdose can affect anyone, any family, and any community. Awareness matters because stigma can keep people silent, while compassion, education, treatment, and connection can help save lives.

At Devon’s Craft Corner, our mission of Turning Grief Into Art also means making space for difficult conversations and reminding people that recovery is possible, support is available, and every life has value.

Check on your people. Learn about naloxone. Lead with compassion. Speak up without shame.

If you or someone you know is struggling and needs immediate emotional support, call or text 988.

You matter. You are loved. Your story is not over. 💜

Sometimes God has a way of giving us exactly the message we need.

Today’s lesson reminded us that a healthy church begins with people who are committed to following Christ. Men are called to be Godly leaders who lead with humility, courage, and faith. Women are called to be Godly women who reflect grace, wisdom, and the love of Christ in everything they do.

Neither role is about being greater than the other. It’s about honoring God with the gifts and responsibilities He has given each of us.

When men lead with Christ at the center and women walk boldly in their faith, the church becomes a place where people are welcomed, encouraged, healed, and pointed back to Jesus.

We all left with the same question.

How can I look a little more like Christ this week?

May our lives reflect His love, not only on Sundays but every day of the week. 💗✝️

This one by Henri Nouwen has always been a reminder that kindness isn’t always about having the right words or the perfect solution. Sometimes it’s simply about being willing to sit with someone in their pain and let them know they aren’t alone.

At Devon’s Craft Corner, that’s what “Turning Grief Into Art” means to us. Every handmade piece is created with love, compassion, and the hope that it brings someone a little comfort, a smile, or a reminder that they matter.

Thank you, Henri Nouwen, for sharing words that continue to encourage empathy and remind us of the strength found in simply showing up for one another. 💗

“Anyone who willingly enters into the pain of a stranger is truly a remarkable person…” — Henri Nouwen

💖 How to Support Someone Struggling with Their Mental Health 💖

When someone is hurting, it’s natural to want to make everything better.

But one of the most important things to remember is this:

✨ You don’t have to fix someone to support them. ✨

Often, the greatest gift you can offer is your presence, patience, and compassion.

Here are a few ways to support someone who may be struggling:

🤍 Listen without judgment.
Sometimes people need to be heard more than they need advice.

💬 Ask, “How can I support you?”
Everyone’s needs are different.

⏳ Be patient with their healing journey.
Progress isn’t always linear.

📱 Check in regularly.
A simple text, call, or message can mean more than you realize.

🫂 Offer encouragement, not solutions.
Remind them they are loved, valued, and not alone.

🚨 Help connect them with professional support if needed.
Therapists, counselors, support groups, and crisis resources can provide additional care.

Remember:

💖 You don’t need the perfect words.
💖 You don’t need all the answers.
💖 You just need to show that you care.

Sometimes hope begins when someone feels seen, heard, and supported.

Let’s continue creating communities where people know they don’t have to face life’s challenges alone.

💖 Signs You May Be Emotionally Exhausted 💖

Sometimes we’re so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget to check in with ourselves.

Emotional exhaustion doesn’t always show up as a breakdown. Sometimes it appears as feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or simply running on empty.

You may be emotionally exhausted if you:

💗 Feel constantly drained, even after resting
💗 Have trouble focusing or concentrating
💗 Feel irritable or overwhelmed by small things
💗 Lack motivation or interest in things you usually enjoy
💗 Feel emotionally numb
💗 Struggle with sleep
💗 Experience frequent headaches, body aches, or fatigue
💗 Withdraw from friends, family, or activities
💗 Feel hopeless or stuck
💗 Feel like you’re surviving instead of truly living

If any of these sound familiar, know this:

✨ You are not lazy.
✨ You are not failing.
✨ You are not alone.

Your mind and body may be telling you that it’s time to slow down, rest, and care for yourself.

Healing starts with recognizing when you need support.

Take a deep breath.
Drink some water.
Give yourself grace.
Reach out to someone you trust if you need help.

💖 Rest is productive.
💖 Boundaries are healthy.
💖 Your well-being matters.

💚 Myth vs. Fact: Minority Mental Health Edition 💚

When it comes to mental health, misinformation and stigma can prevent people from seeking the support they deserve.

Let’s separate myth from fact.

❌ MYTH: Mental health issues don’t affect minority communities.
✅ FACT: Mental health challenges affect people of every race, culture, and background.

❌ MYTH: Strong people handle problems on their own.
✅ FACT: Seeking help is a sign of courage, self-awareness, and strength.

❌ MYTH: Mental health is someone else’s issue.
✅ FACT: Mental health impacts every community and every family.

❌ MYTH: Talking about mental health makes things worse.
✅ FACT: Open conversations can lead to healing, understanding, and support.

❌ MYTH: Therapy is only for severe problems.
✅ FACT: Therapy can help with stress, growth, coping skills, relationships, grief, and everyday challenges.

❌ MYTH: Culture and mental health care don’t mix.
✅ FACT: Cultural identity, faith, family, community, and professional support can work together to promote healing.

During Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s challenge misconceptions and create spaces where people feel safe discussing their mental well-being.

💚 Knowledge reduces stigma.
💚 Understanding builds compassion.
💚 Compassion creates change.

Everyone deserves access to support, healing, and hope.

Because mental health is not a luxury—it’s a necessity.

💚 Turning Grief Into Art #2 💚

What Creating Means During Difficult Seasons

Grief has a way of changing you.

It can take away your energy, your joy, your motivation, and sometimes even pieces of who you thought you were.

During difficult seasons, creating gives me something grief can’t take away.

When I crochet, my focus shifts from my pain to the people who will receive what I’m making. I think about the smiles, the comfort, and the happiness a handmade creation might bring to someone else’s day.

There is something healing about knowing that something made with my own hands can bring joy to another person.

Every plushie, every project, and every stitch becomes more than yarn.

It becomes a reminder that even after loss, we can still create beauty.

For me, creating helps heal parts of me that grief tried to take away.

That’s what Turning Grief Into Art means.

Taking pain and transforming it into something that brings comfort, connection, and hope.

🧶 What is something that helps you through difficult seasons?

💚 Community Spotlight: Mental Health Resources 💚

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned on my mental health journey is that we don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

This month, I want to highlight SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and the many resources they provide for individuals, families, and communities.

SAMHSA offers:
✨ Mental health education and resources
✨ Substance use support and information
✨ Crisis intervention resources
✨ Treatment locator tools
✨ Resources for families and caregivers
✨ Information on recovery and wellness

Whether you’re struggling yourself, supporting someone you love, or simply looking to learn more about mental health, SAMHSA has resources that can help.

Asking for help is a sign of strength, and having access to the right resources can make all the difference.

💚 Have you ever used a mental health resource that made a positive impact in your life? Share it in the comments and help others discover support.

💖 Self-Care Saturday 💖

Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive.
It doesn’t have to be complicated.
And it definitely doesn’t have to look the same for everyone.

Sometimes self-care is simply making time for yourself.

Here are 5 unique ways to care for your mental health:

🌸 Create something.
Crochet, paint, write, draw, or craft.

🎵 Make a feel-good playlist.
Fill it with songs that bring you joy, comfort, or motivation.

📵 Take a social media break.
Give your mind space to rest and recharge.

💌 Write a letter to yourself.
Offer yourself the same kindness you would give a friend.

☀️ Spend time outside.
Fresh air, sunshine, and nature can do wonders for your mood.

Remember:

💖 Self-care is not selfish.
💖 Rest is productive.
💖 Small steps still count.
💖 You deserve care too.

At Devon’s Craft Corner, we believe healing often happens through small moments of creativity, connection, and compassion.

What is your favorite form of self-care? Tell us below! 👇✨
